Johnny "How do you feel about Thomas deciding to shun Teresa in the end? Do you feel there relationship will ever heal..."
Teresa and Thomas’s relationship was completely ruined by WICKED. Even after all the lies were explained Thomas could never really salvage what they had lost. “’No matter what, in the end you had to feel like I’d completely betrayed you.’” (312) “They kissed, but nothing stirred inside Thomas. He felt nothing.” (313) Thomas was tired, tired of the trials, tired of the lies, and was broken. Teresa felt justified in what she did. She was, it was the only way to save her, Thomas’s, and Aris’s life. However, she didn’t put much effort into trying to win him back. “No. I kind of accepted it, in a way. That saving you was worth losing what we might’ve had.” (317) “’I can only say sorry so many times.’” (352) Perhaps, with time, Thomas will heal enough to be with her again. However it will have to wait until much after this is all over.

Abigail Who's the good guys?

What's your opinion on, "WICKED is good"?

Wait does it say that in the 2nd book? I can't remember. :P

Abigail It's debatable

Johnny "What's your opinion on, "Wicked is good?"
-SPOILER ALERT-
WICKED, in all ways, is trying to save the human race. It uses the, “give up some to save many,” idea to justify the terrible things it does. Looking through the eyes of the main characters, it is obvious that they feel WICKED is terrible, especially since they are the ones getting tested on. As a reader, growing to love these characters then having them killed by WICKED, such as Chuck, makes me feel that WICKED really is bad. But from a third party POV, it may not be so true.
-MAJOR MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, TURN BACK NOW-
The workers at WICKED tried to instill “WICKED IS GOOD” into all of its test subjects. The epilogue at the end of book three reveals a lot. Although WICKED caused much pain and death, their intentions were good. And, though it may not justify all of their wrong doing, the people at WICKED truly believed they were working towards good. In this way, WICKED really was good.

Hey, you answered my question! That's cool :) I can't say I agree 100% with you though. What you've said makes sense, but in my opinion, WICKED isn't good.

I mean, their intentions were good, yeah, but don't you think they took it a little too far? I mean, did they REALLY have to kill and traumatise a bunch of innocent, young kids? Could they not have found another way? Something a little more human, maybe?

Toying with someone's mind, in my opinion, is never good no matter what it's for. Which is what WICKED did. So in my opinion, WICKED is bad.

Johnny Thank you for responding to my answer. This is for a school grade and no one was. You saved my grade, and I appreciate it.

The problem with analyzing this question is, though we understand the process WICKED used, we never understand how they arrived at such a terrible process. For all we know, this process never guaranteed a cure at all. If this is the case, WICKED truly was awful.
And, if I may contradict myself, I do not myself believe the ends justify the means. But the members of WICKED did.
And if they were successful, after the world had recovered, they would have been hailed as heroes, test subjects and workers alike. IF the information would have been released at all.
Since not everything was revealed about WICKED, we can only use a lot of "what if?"
As for taking it to far, I agree with you. But (in an effort to keep the conversation going,) it begs the question, once they started, why stop?
There may not have been time to find another way. Again, keyword is MAY, but cities were being wiped out and time was definitely running out.
AGAIN thank you for responding! I hope others will follow suit.

Abigail *SPOILERS*
duh
In my opinion, I think that WICKED was testing the human brain, therefor humanity, and the only way to truly test the goodness was to make them handle badness. They wanted to create a brain, and in order to do that, WICKED needed to know every reaction to every problem, to every possibility, so they made it extreme and to children/teen, because if they wanted to make a brain, they thought that children/teens were the best choice. Their last resort was to let them through the portal, but they might as well try more than one way to save humanity.

Abigail I think that they were so desperate that they didn't think reasonably.
