Kim I liked the ending a lot. I liked how it wasn't one of those typical happily ever after endings. Sometimes things dont end so merry and happy, because life can be cruel sometimes. it felt real.

and i think she would have chosen Peeta even if Gale stayed. I dont think she could have lived with not knowing for sure if Gale was in on Prim's death (which I dont think he was, but yeah). In the book when they said he was in District 2, she wasn't heartbroken, she was relieved, and she didnt have to choose Peeta. She loved him. It was a sad end to the trilogy but thats what made it great.

Kristin Hated it. What a disappointment. Enjoyed nearly all of this series... until the end. Wish she could take it back and write it again.

Lol!I know right??!The ending was sooo damned abrupt!! :(

I was just talking about this with a friend! I felt robbed after such amazing stories to be left without more details of Katniss and Peeta's recoveries and reconcilliation. I was left wanting more.

Robin I absolutely loved the surprise ending....It should be encouraging for every one who has been in love....

message 106: by Sophie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sophie It was the worst. All my favourite characters died and I was upset for days:(

message 107: by Erica (new) - rated it 3 stars

Erica I hate it.
the ending was not good enough.

Darlene Loved the ending! I appreciate how Suzanne Collins wasn't afraid to make it realistic. It was dark and real and just awesome.

message 109: by Katie (new) - added it

Katie I loved all the books but hated how even though all the government business was resolved and she married Peeta and had kids, I was left feeling kind of depressed at the end ya know? And Gale, who was so important to Katniss her whole life and one of my favorite characters, was just off in District Two without an explanation of how he and Katniss left things. I mean I understand that he came up with the strategy that killed Prim, but HE didn't kill her! It was just sad how it seemed like such a solid relationship (between Katniss and Gale) meant almost nothing in the end of the books.
But I DID love the books!!

message 110: by Mili (new) - rated it 5 stars

Mili I didnt hate it, but it bothers me the unstable status of Katniss and Panem....

Sorry, I am dork but best ending is Harry back on the train with his kids :P

But sometimes that's how real life friendships end. You think you know someone and trust them and something extremely tragic happens and you feel like you don't know them anymore. It's life.

message 112: by Leila (new) - rated it 5 stars

Leila OK, I've been reading these comments for a while trying to understand what people *wanted* the end of this book to be. I continue to see people say "the ending seemed rushed" as if the Author hurried to write it. I think, instead, the ending feels rushed because it is the complete breakdown of the main character. The events happen quickly through the eyes of somebody who is completely in shock. Events happen in pieces because we see things through her eyes and she is broken. I found this the most amazing and compelling scene in all the books. Collins keeps Katniss at a distance until this point. While it was incredibly disturbing and heart-wrenching, I also thought it was a beautiful statement of human resilience and healing.

But, enough about what I think. For all of you that hated the ending. What is your idea ending? What were you flipping the pages for? what were you hoping to find at the end?

message 113: by Hannah (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hannah Eng I feel like there should be another book.... just like a small one... saying what happened to everyone... I wanna know if Gale found someone else, or if her mom went back into her depression... it just ended too quickly for me..

I kinda agree... Like Finnick and Prim died for no reason other that to add more tradgedy to the book....

I know, there was no real point to it. Sure I never expected a Happily Ever After, but come on! In the chapters after she'd been set on fire, and she met snow and all that. I thought they were just a dream, and she'd wake up from like a comma or something, and the end would be good. When I relised it wasn't a dream, just after Snow, I went back and re-read it, then again, and again..........
I was so shocked, this was the way she was ending. I had to stop reading for a day because I was so depressed!

message 116: by Morgan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Morgan I didn't hate it but it definitely not as good as Catching Fire and Hunger Games so... And I think she did good not giving the kids names because it was a cute ending and now it leaves us to think of what the kids names could possibly be!

breanna YOU SELF RITCHIOUS OGORS!!!!!

unworthy I really disliked the ending there were so many things she should have adressed..

message 119: by Leah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Very well put.

message 121: by Matt (new) - rated it 5 stars

Matt The ending was so disappointing. It just seemed so sad and depressing. No super happy ending. It felt rushed and not enough heart in it. I did not like it. I put the book down once I was done and all I could think was WTF!?
