Task 20.2. Rookie on Top: Queenarwen's Task: April Showers

In honor of the old saying, “April showers bring May flowers,” choose one book from either of these two options. Fiction or non-fiction is fine.
REQUIRED: Indicate which option you chose.

A. April Showers: Choose a book that fits one of these criteria:

1. Is about a huge storm or a flood

2. Is included on one of these lists:
Books that Made You Cry or
Most Depressing Book of all Time
REQUIRED: Include in your post the list from which your book came, and tell us why you found this book sad.

3. Has a picture of rain or a storm on the front (doesn’t have to be a rainstorm)
REQUIRED: Include a link to the cover of the book.

B. May Flowers: Choose a book that fits one of these criteria:

1. Is about flowers or a garden

2. Is included on one of these lists:
Books That Make You Laugh or
Best Lighthearted Literature
REQUIRED: Include in your post the list from which your book came, and tell us why you found this book a happy one.

3. Has an author or a main character with the name of a flower. Examples: Iris Johansen, Rose Tremain, The Great Gatsby (Daisy Buchanan)

Kathy G. | 1931 comments Would this work for Option B.- #1 (about a garden)
Garden Spells

message 7: by Bucket (new)

Bucket | 362 comments I'd like to use The Waves by Virginia Woolf for the April showers option 3 (storm on the front). The cover image shows foreboding dark clouds rolling in over a choppy ocean.

message 8: by Mary Beth (new)

Mary Beth (marybethbaker) | 134 comments Can I use Not Wanted On The Voyage for Option A.1.? It's a retelling of the Noah story, so it's more set during a flood than specifically about the flood.

Dee (austhokie) | 8946 comments can I check on 1222 A Hanne Wilhelmsen Novel by Anne Holt - i'm not sure if the cover shows enough of the storm, or not - but its set during a huge blizzard and they are all stuck in a hotel - for either Option A, 1 or 3

Michael Mcdaid | 163 comments would these work for storm on the cover? Nick Of Time (Nick McIver, #1) by Ted Bell Birthmarked (Birthmarked, #1) by Caragh M. O'Brien

Sam | 174 comments Can we count the surname of an author for option B3? I was thinking of using Karen Rose

message 12: by Becky (new)

Becky (ragamuffin_child) | 67 comments Yes to everyone so far. :)
It's fun seeing all the books everyone comes up with. :)

message 13: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) For Option A3, I'd like to use Uprising. It shows white lightning around the lake and buildings. I have the book in hand. Not sure how well you can see the lightning on your computer.

message 14: by Becky (new)

Becky (ragamuffin_child) | 67 comments That looks like a storm - no problem!

message 15: by Ashlea (new)

Ashlea Daune (ashyydaune) | 44 comments will this work for storm on the cover Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1) by Josephine Angelini

or this - Deadly Little Games (Touch, #3) by Laurie Faria Stolarz for a storm on the cover

message 17: by Becky (new)

Becky (ragamuffin_child) | 67 comments Ashlea, that will work.
JennRenee, it's hard to tell if it's snowflakes or just light sparkles. Is it easier to see on the real book? Or do you know there is a storm in the story that would "back up" the cover?

message 18: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (moragepona) | 122 comments Is it just the one book, for April OR May, or one each?

up close its snow. The book takes place in the middle of winter.

message 20: by Becky (new)

Becky (ragamuffin_child) | 67 comments JennRenee, I think since you don't actually see storm clouds in the picture, I will have to say it doesn't work. Sorry.

Sarah, just one book. :)

Jecca | 733 comments Celtic Storms (Celtic Steel, #1) by Delaney Rhodes
not sure if this will work for a pic of storm...there is lightning and some scary "storm" like clouds?
Thanks

message 22: by Peebee (new)

Peebee | 481 comments What about The Magnolia League for May flowers? The main characters are called "the Magnolias."
