SOLVED. Children's chapter book series with animals as the m/c's [s]

I read them as a child at least 20 years ago. Got them from the public library and I am pretty sure they were old. I don't remember many details unfortunately except that I think each book focused on a different animal, but they were all connected. Maybe they lived in the same village, town, forest, etc...I just know I always looked forward to getting the next book every time we went to the library and wanted to see if I could find them again and read to my children. Thanks for your help, and I will try to remember more details and add as I can!
