For the upper class who did not have work and hired servants to do everything around the house for them, and without all the distractions and entertainment we have today they probably did have a lot of free time on their hands. These plots of intrigue and seduction were probably born out of their boredom and gave them some amusement, like a game to play.

Well I am about 50% done with the book although I'm not sure how much is left of part two because I had to switch to my kindle. I am still enjoying the book but I'm over Valmont and Tourvel letters. I am contemplating skipping through them until something happens but I will give them more time. I agree with enjoying the letters between Valmont and Marquise de Merteuil. Although I do not like them, they are interesting. I am hoping they get what they deserve. Normally in books I feel bad for the characters restrained by societies rules and am glad when they break the mold but those two are just cruel and seem to have no feelings other than selflessness. Needless to say I can't wait to see what happens next.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
