If you are participating in a challenge to read 50 books, probably someone at one has at least wondered if you might be a nerd :) Looking at my reading list lately, I'm thinking that description may fit well.

What I'd like to know is what book you love, despite the fact that it may have you nominated for ruler of geek-kind?

Bridget (thebookishmilso) | 2 comments Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card! Love it. I read it probably at least once a year and I've owned it for about ten years now.

Donna | 1350 comments The fact that I am a middle aged woman who reads & collects comics pretty much puts the crown on my head. I have copies of Giant-Sized X-men #1 and X-men 94 in my firesafe (fanboys kneel before me and despair). Ask me what I think about the X-men movies, go ahead, I dare you.

Diane (readingrl) | 130 comments I would not dream of asking you about those movies, Donna! :)
Is there really only *one* book that qualifies one for ruler of geek-kind?! I get strange looks from people all the time when I carry my latest "non-bestseller" where ever I go.
Yes, Virgina, people do read books that Oprah has not personally endorsed and will never make it past 20 on NYT bestseller list.
My favorite one to freak people out is Our Father Who Art in a Tree: A Novel by Judy Pascoe. First the title gets them, then the basic premise of the story: Simone's father has recently died and she believes his spirit now inhabits the tree in the backyard. Clearly a metaphorical tale of family, love and loss (and much better than the most recent book I read tackling such subjects "The Dogs of Babel).
Not sure Our Father Who Art in a Tree: A Novel makes me supreme ruler, but I'm pretty sure it got me a cabinet level position or mayor of a decent sized town in Geekland.

Ender's Game is my all time favourite book. I own about four copies (people borrow it and don't return it in time for me to re-read it).

I first discovered Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game in 1987 and like Bridget have read it once a year - OMG - this will be my 25th year!!!

Perhaps Diane, Bridget and I have cabinet positions in Geekland

Jason Baldwin-Stephens | 156 comments Hey Everyone,

I read just about everything that I can get my hands on but here's a few of the books in my top 25 that tend to get friends and family calling me a geek:

Dune
Something Wicked This Way Comes (this one I reread every October)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Rendezvous With Rama

Luke (korrick) Annual rereadings of The Lord of the Rings anyone?
