Debra (debra_t) Would A Game of Thrones count for option 5 as a family saga?

message 52: by M (new)

M (masanobu) Kazza wrote: "For family saga (5) - does it have to be stated that as genre on book page?

Red Sorghum - the genre does not specify family saga but part of blurb states "From 1923 to 1976 three gen..."

No, it isn't necessary that 'family saga' appears as a genre.

Red Sorghum sounds like it works, just be sure to say it was accepted in the task help thread when you post. ;)

M (masanobu) Lindsey wrote: "Would any "for dummies" book work for option 1? They all have yellow and black covers.
Wicca & Witchcraft for Dummies by Diane Smith"

Not all of them work. Some of them have other colors beside black and yellow taking up a significant portion of the cover.

The one you have posted as example works, because the pentagram looks golden-colored.

Does it make sense?

message 54: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (_lindsey_) | 498 comments Yep! I will most likely be reading that one, but I will be sure to ask if I read a different one instead. Thank you!!

M (masanobu) Debra wrote: "Would A Game of Thrones count for option 5 as a family saga?"

No, sorry, it doesn't work. A Game of Thrones doesn't follow generations of a family (or in this case, families), and it all happens during just one year, so it is not a significant period of history, either.

I hope you find another task for that book!

This has been a tough one. I've finally decided that it doesn't work, because of the amount of brown taking up the bottom half of the cover. However, if you can't find a better option, I could let you use it. Please come back to tell me first!

Flowers for Algernon is perfect.
I'm not so sure about The House on Mango Street - is the title orange or reddish?

It works. I meant any army, not just the US Army. I hadn't even realized that could be a possible interpretation.

Also, I've already commented on the Completed Tasks with Problems thread.

It works. Red and black are the colors that stand out the most. :)

Just remember to say it was approved in the task help thread.

Wicked Appetite (The Unmentionables, #1) by Janet Evanovich

3. Blue cover
The Graduate by Charles Webb

5. Favorite genre - Young Adult
Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli

I may swap Maniac Magee out for The Wild (The Secret Journeys of Jack London, #1) by Christopher Golden .

Does that work?

I am not entirely sure of what you mean there. You just have to read ONE book for this task.

Assuming you rolled a 6, Arryn, you could read
a. A mystery: Wicked Appetite works.
OR
b. A book with a white and blue cover: The Graduate by Charles Webb doesn't work, because there is no white. The Wild (The Secret Journeys of Jack London, #1) by Christopher Golden works for this option, though.
OR
c. A book with the word 'moon' in the title.

I don't know what you mean by favourite genre, since that isn't an option for this task.

Now it makes sense! :) It's okay, and at least you now know the internet didn't eat your post.

I hope you enjoy the 50 point task! :)

It has little gold in it, but I'm going to take it. Especially when there are just ten days left!
