I always have that problem!! Takes me an evening when I might be reading the new book to decide which book I am going to read!
lol Beth - same here - that's why I don't plan ahead anymore. I used to, but I almost always would never want to read what I planned to read. I think because I'm a "moody" reader - it depends on what I'm in the mood for to read.
I just started
.Unlike most of Heyer's romances this is about a pirate in Elizabethan time who captures a Spain ship with a beautiful girl and her father.I haven't read a book about a pirate in years and can't wait to get into it.
I'm loving my current read and don't want it to end - it's been a long time since I've felt that way about a book.In other news I did put
on my wishlist on thriftbooks :-)
I plan ahead for what to read next knowing that sometimes it might change. I see it more as a road map for me to focus on. If I don't, I would drive myself crazy trying to figure out what to read next. Lol
I used to plan ahead but then looked at my list and thought 'i don't want to read that one yet' so planning is pointless!
Kim, you crack me up! I love how you always come back and say "nope" not reading this but this instead ;)
LOL Beth - well I try it and I can tell if I'm not going to like it so then I just move on to something else. Usually it's within the first 40 pages I can tell, sometimes a little longer. This one I could tell in less than 20 pages lol.

precisely. :)
precisely. :)
Okay now I'm going to read (or start reading lol)
we'll see if I stick with it ;-)plus I just found out that it's 12th in a line of books with the main character lol - oh well, I've done it before with other books/authors and enjoyed the books just as well even without having had read any previous in the lines so hopefully that will happen with this one too :-)

Geez...12th book? Lol Knew it was a series, but sheesh..lol Let me know how it goes. I may need to read the first book if I decide to read it.

lol will do. I can tell you that I'm only a few pages in so far but so far I don't feel as though I've missed anything by not reading any previous books. I'll let you know if that changes.
I've recently finished reading
by Ernest Hemingway and
by Janet Evanovich. The Old Man and the Sea
I enjoyed this book. At 127 pages, The Old Man and the Sea was a quick read. I managed to read the entire novel in just under an hour. It was a touching and thought-provoking tale. I admired Santiago's determination and his refusal to let his spirit be broken. I loved Ernest Hemingway's writing style. I thought it was very similar to John Steinbeck's style (who is my favourite author by the way). Although it is a very short novel, the story got quite slow and repetitive in places. It is a good novel but I honestly didn't think it was worthy of the Pulitzer Prize it won in 1953.

Lean Mean Thirteen
I enjoyed this book but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous instalment, Twelve Sharp. The plot was predictable and virtually nothing happened in it to develop the characters further. I'm getting tired of the love triangle with Joe Morelli and Ranger and I wish Stephanie would finally choose one of them or else dump them both and date someone new! Janet Evanovich has let this go on for far too long and now there's no sexual tension left between the characters.

Now I'm halfway through
by Jane Casey.
Ellie - The Old Man and the Sea is one of my favorite classics. I'm glad you somewhat enjoyed it as well.
after a quick re-read of City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare.I have picked a mystery by Georgette Heyer(I thought I was on burn out of her but I am really into this mystery)It's the first mystery I have read of her's.It's called
Alice wrote: "it amazes me that you all can read two fiction books at once. :Preading: Sense and Sensibility!!!!"
Hope you're enjoying S&S! It's probably my second favourite Austen novel <3
I am currently reading Denyse Beaulieu's The Perfume Lover: A Personal History of Scent, Edith Wharton's Bunner Sisters and (slowly but surely) St. Anselm's The Major Works
Leslie, I really enjoyed
and I don't feel as though I missed out on anything by not reading any of the previous novels with this character. Here is my review if you'd like to see it: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...I might try S&S since I liked the movie so much, but I probably won't like it - I just don't care for the writing style of most of the classics. But it's worth a shot.
In the meantime I'm not sure what I'm reading next.
Reading only two at once? I can read ten at once! I tend to be a compulsive reader...so if I can't get into the story, or if I don't have it with me, I'll just start reading something else!I've started "The Mountain Girl" by Payne Erskine (ebook) and am reading "The Crossways" by Helen R. Martin (hard copy) and rereading/officially finishing instead of skimming to get to the great ending "A Gentleman of France" by Stanley John Weyman.

I know what you mean. It's hard for me to read some of the classics too. :/ but I find Jane Austen really easy to read cause the chapters are so short and the dialogue is very close to the movie script! and her writing is so witty and to the point. :) I think you may like it!

I used to read multiple books at once but I found that I actually read more when I just read one at a time.
