Yes! Especially when I have a big pile to choose from - I have the hardest time deciding what to read next. I try to mix it up with genres but sometimes I just get in a pattern of reading a certain genre so that makes the decision making process harder lol

message 1004: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) I hear ya, Nicole! I have that same problem. And Kim like you said, it's usually becaue I have a ridiculous pile of books to choose from.

I always have that problem!! Takes me an evening when I might be reading the new book to decide which book I am going to read!

I try to plan ahead...sometimes it doesnt work though lol

message 1007: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) I "plan" ahead and then don't want to read what I plan, hehe.

message 1008: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book lol Beth - same here - that's why I don't plan ahead anymore. I used to, but I almost always would never want to read what I planned to read. I think because I'm a "moody" reader - it depends on what I'm in the mood for to read.

message 1009: by Nicole D. (new)

Nicole D. (thereadingrebel) | 1278 comments I just started Beauvallet by Geargette Heyer .Unlike most of Heyer's romances this is about a pirate in Elizabethan time who captures a Spain ship with a beautiful girl and her father.I haven't read a book about a pirate in years and can't wait to get into it.

message 1010: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I'm loving my current read and don't want it to end - it's been a long time since I've felt that way about a book.

In other news I did put The Bad Queen Rules and Instructions for Marie-Antoinette (Young Royals, #6) by Carolyn Meyer on my wishlist on thriftbooks :-)

message 1011: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) I plan ahead for what to read next knowing that sometimes it might change. I see it more as a road map for me to focus on. If I don't, I would drive myself crazy trying to figure out what to read next. Lol

message 1012: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Time Is a River by Mary Alice Monroe by Mary Alice Monroe is a beautiful, beautiful book - I highly recommend it.

Now I'm reading A Season for Tending (Amish Vines and Orchids #1) by Cindy Woodsmall

I used to plan ahead but then looked at my list and thought 'i don't want to read that one yet' so planning is pointless!

message 1014: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book nope not reading the above mentioned book. Instead I'm going to read I Heart Paris (I Heart, #3) by Lindsey Kelk

message 1015: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) Kim, you crack me up! I love how you always come back and say "nope" not reading this but this instead ;)

message 1016: by Kim-Lost-In-A-Book (new)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book LOL Beth - well I try it and I can tell if I'm not going to like it so then I just move on to something else. Usually it's within the first 40 pages I can tell, sometimes a little longer. This one I could tell in less than 20 pages lol.

message 1017: by Leslie (new)

Leslie (chibilee02) Finished The Prince (The Original Sinners, #3) by Tiffany Reisz which I loved (along w/the rest of the series) and now started The Iron Butterfly (Iron Butterfly, #1) by Chanda Hahn and Nice Guy FAIL by Phil Torcivia

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Okay now I'm going to read (or start reading lol) The Fallen Angel (Gabriel Allon, #12) by Daniel Silva we'll see if I stick with it ;-)

plus I just found out that it's 12th in a line of books with the main character lol - oh well, I've done it before with other books/authors and enjoyed the books just as well even without having had read any previous in the lines so hopefully that will happen with this one too :-)

Well I couldn't get into Beauvallet I think I am on a Heyer burn out and even Regency/Historical burn out.I think I will read a YA fantasy.Plus I still have to reread Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince before March 19 when the third book comes out.I few fantasy and/or sci-fi and I will need a Regency/Georgian/Historical book again.

message 1031: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've recently finished reading The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway by Ernest Hemingway and Lean Mean Thirteen (Stephanie Plum, #13) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich.

The Old Man and the Sea
I enjoyed this book. At 127 pages, The Old Man and the Sea was a quick read. I managed to read the entire novel in just under an hour. It was a touching and thought-provoking tale. I admired Santiago's determination and his refusal to let his spirit be broken. I loved Ernest Hemingway's writing style. I thought it was very similar to John Steinbeck's style (who is my favourite author by the way). Although it is a very short novel, the story got quite slow and repetitive in places. It is a good novel but I honestly didn't think it was worthy of the Pulitzer Prize it won in 1953.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Lean Mean Thirteen
I enjoyed this book but I didn't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous instalment, Twelve Sharp. The plot was predictable and virtually nothing happened in it to develop the characters further. I'm getting tired of the love triangle with Joe Morelli and Ranger and I wish Stephanie would finally choose one of them or else dump them both and date someone new! Janet Evanovich has let this go on for far too long and now there's no sexual tension left between the characters.

Now I'm halfway through How To Fall by Jane Casey by Jane Casey.

Leslie (chibilee02) Thanks Kim, that's good to know. I always worry about that with books within a series.

Hope you're enjoying S&S! It's probably my second favourite Austen novel <3

I am currently reading Denyse Beaulieu's The Perfume Lover: A Personal History of Scent, Edith Wharton's Bunner Sisters and (slowly but surely) St. Anselm's The Major Works

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Leslie, I really enjoyed The Fallen Angel (Gabriel Allon, #12) by Daniel Silva and I don't feel as though I missed out on anything by not reading any of the previous novels with this character. Here is my review if you'd like to see it: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I might try S&S since I liked the movie so much, but I probably won't like it - I just don't care for the writing style of most of the classics. But it's worth a shot.

In the meantime I'm not sure what I'm reading next.

message 1050: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 215 comments Reading only two at once? I can read ten at once! I tend to be a compulsive reader...so if I can't get into the story, or if I don't have it with me, I'll just start reading something else!
I've started "The Mountain Girl" by Payne Erskine (ebook) and am reading "The Crossways" by Helen R. Martin (hard copy) and rereading/officially finishing instead of skimming to get to the great ending "A Gentleman of France" by Stanley John Weyman.
