I"m about to read the Hobbit for the first time!!! =D

message 952: by Beth (new)

Beth (bbulow) Alice, I think you'll like it :) I've been wanting to read it again for a while, plus it will be nice to have read it again before I see the movie when it comes out on DVD.

Also, I hope to read at least the first Lord of the Rings book since I've never read them.

That sounds a lot like the movie "Marie Antoinette" with Kirsten Dunst. Although I know that movie was based on a different book. this one sounds very similar though - sounds good!!

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Yesterday I finished The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly by Jennifer Donnelly. The Tea Rose is an extremely well-researched and well-written novel which is packed full of unexpected twists and turns throughout the story. I absolutely enjoyed this book! I thought this book was very gripping, intriguing and engrossing tale and I found it very hard to put it down for long. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next! I fell in love with all the main characters. They were all so interesting, compelling and very well-developed, especially Fiona. As soon as I finished this novel I brought the sequel, The Winter Rose, on my Kindle and I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Good luck, I found this book very hard, but also interesting. Very different from the hobbit or LOTR.

I am almost finished with

Dead Souls. Great book, beautifyully written. And I have already started in A Scanner Darkly. Second try, the first time I wasn't really in the mood for this book, so I quitted

LOL really??? your favorite?? thats interesting. I LOVE Ann Rinaldi but I must admit, this wasn't one of my favs of hers. :/ don't get me wrong- it was still really good and I don't think I could ever DISlike something of hers, but it wasnt my fav. :/ I still like Redheaded Princess and Mutiny's Daughter probably best (thats what got me hooked on her). I also liked the Last Silk Dress although it had a few issues. lol
OH I really liked 5th of March too!!!! glad to learn you love this author as well! <3

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book The Saving Graces was really great. Now I'm reading Time Is a River by Mary Alice Monroe

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Me Before You by Jojo Moyes by Jojo Moyes and The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway by Ernest Hemingway.

I loved Me Before You from beginning to the end. It's a very complex novel. It is well-written, heart-breaking, gripping and deeply moving. I cried my eyes out several times while reading this book. I don't think I've ever cried this much while reading a book before! This novel deals with the topic of euthanasia and could have been really depressing but it's a credit to the skill of the author that she makes the book so readable. This is a thought provoking story and, whatever you feel about assisted suicide, it will make you think about how you would cope if suddenly all your choices and decisions were taken away from you and you had to rely on others to do everything for you. I gave this book 4.5 Stars!

SO- I have done aNOTHER unthinkable and decided to not finish it *gasp*. Instead I am reading Miss Delacourt Has Her Day by Heidi Ashworth , which I KNOW I will love because I've read the first one already and fell in love with it, and I have it from a very reliable source (aka: Soph) that is is just as amazing. :)

Yes! Especially when I have a big pile to choose from - I have the hardest time deciding what to read next. I try to mix it up with genres but sometimes I just get in a pattern of reading a certain genre so that makes the decision making process harder lol
