I just finished
by Stephen King earlier today and I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King and The Green Mile has got to be one of the best novels he has ever written. In fact, it's one of the best novels I have ever read in my entire life. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down! It is very beautifully written and extremely moving at times. The plot is original, gripping and heart-breaking. I'd give this book more than five stars if I could! My full review is here. Now I'm about to start
by Shirley Jackson.

I've never read a Stephen King book but I really want to read this one -I may have to put it on my "must read" list for next year.
Alice wrote: "Ooh I wanna read 3 musketeers, how is it?"It's interesting so far! The language took a bit getting used to (I don't read much French classic lit) but the story is starting to pick up =)
Earlier, I finished reading
by Shirley Jackson. I was disappointed by this book to be honest. I felt the novel did not live up to the reputation it has gotten. I just felt like it was missing something. Plus I disliked all the characters and the strange dialogue between them really annoyed me. This is one novel where the movie, or in this case movies, are better than the book. My full review is here.Next I'm going to read
by Anne Rice.
I am reading
.I really love his other books I have read.He is funny and I love mythology so this is going to be a great and funny read.

;) I love Tudor(ish) books and I haven't read any in FOREVER so I REALLY enjoyed Queen's Own Fool. ;) it was the first book I read that was mainly about Mary, Queen of Scots, and the first book I'd read about a court "Fool". :)
Just finished:
Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James ~ disappointedand
Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier -- loved!!Currently reading:
Young Romantics: The Tangled Lives of English Poetry's Greatest Generation and
Bernini: His Life and His Rome by Franco Mormando
Sadly -- yes. I really pushed myself to finish the book. I found the characters (Darcy, Elizabeth, Kitty) were flat - they lacked the depth that Austen gave them (although Mr. Bennett's cameo appearance was good). The story painfully dragged throughout the first 3/4 of the book until the ending where the mystery, more or less, solves itself at a local inquest and trial with the help of some last-minute revelations.
I am currently reading
A Season for Tending by Cindy WoodsmallI don't usually like the way the Amish are portrayed in fiction, but I am surprised at how much I am enjoying this one :)
Earlier today, I finished reading
by Anne Rice. The Witching Hour is an extremely long novel, 1207 pages, but don't let that put you off reading as once you open the first page you soon find yourself completely absorbed in the chilling tale of the Mayfair Witches. This novel has a spellbinding, engrossing, well-written tale with complex and mysterious characters. There are plenty of compelling twists and turns in the plot to keep you interested and the suspense is drawn out to perfection. The novel is completely unpredictable, I found the ending to be quite a shock! My full review can be found here. Now, I'm about to start
by Washington Irving and
by Mary Shelley.
ooh Ellie I'll have to check out The Witching Hour. I think the only Anne Rice book that I really loved was Memnoch the Devil. oh there was another one but I can't recall the name of it - but it was about a haunted house that's all I remember lol
