You want them all to get the clap?

Darren is comfortable in his seat and ready to type away.
Please read the instructions in the first post, about the way the event is going to be "structured", and how to use the codes for spoilers (very important that is!)
Most of all, we wish you all a wonderful evening !
Maybe Darren would like to say something?

He's spotted Simon!

A warm welcome to everyone who hasn't got enough of a life to be going out on a Friday. Share your evening with me and the lovely Lorraine. It may be interesting, it may be informative, it may be raided by the police, but hopefully it won't be dull.

Okay, we'll get things started then. Darren, would you like to introduce yourself to those who just happened to stumble upon here because of all the links posted everywhere, but who don't know anything about you?

I am English and in my forties. I live in the near mythical realm of Oxfordyshireland.
I am, therefore, a child of the Star Wars era with a corresponding love of science fiction brought about by repeated science fiction movie seasons on BBC2 and, of course, Doctor Who.
As well as being a TV and film science fiction addict since birth (apparently) I have been writing stories since I learned to write, possibly spurred on by placing in a national competition when I was about six years old.
In later years, I have produced a number of science fiction/fantasy/horror novels all of which are now available on Kindle through Amazon and in print through Lulu.com as well as an encyclopedia of Science Fiction television shows (also available through Lulu.com).
Despite all this, I am fairly normal. Well, I think so anyway.
I am widowed, have two children and need to pay the mortgage.
Between the kids and work and all the other adult stuff that I pretend to be grown up about, I still watch and review science fiction television and movies on the Sci Fi Freak Site at www.scififreaksite.com

Cue: here's the time to say a quick hi everyone !

If you don't know... you won't believe me if I tell you!

A lot of men would be jealous and give a lot to be in your position Darren, all these women surrounding you !

You have lots of adoring females surrounding you wherever you go?

You have lots of adoring females surrounding you wherever you go?"
Yeah I wish.

Says you've got a big harem, Darren."
Which bit of a man is his harem?

Lol !
We'll slowly ease into the first part now, and talk about Darren as a reader and a writer :)

Oops!"
So did I. I'm in exaulted company - I'm not the only daft wazzock!

Oops!"
Not to worry Simon :)
Hi Sarah, you've arrived just in time :)

OK, I hadn't prepared that one.
My all time favourite movie is IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, which I watch every Christmas eve without fail. I guess that you could say it shows an essential belief in people and in being positive and in the fact that every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings.
It's also a wickedly dark fantasy tale.

Here's a little announcement from Darren himself :
And now the time has come my friends to talk of other things,
Of orcs that aren’t like other orcs and horses that have wings,
Tales told of trendy King Arthur in those days of yore,
And Cornish fishing villages so very full of gore.
Of going To Infinity (or maybe that’s far enough)
Of Great Rock N Roll Doomsday Tours and lots of other stuff.
Not forgetting Men from U.N.D.E.A.D. who fight demons of all kinds,
And perhaps the art and craft of writing all these lines
.
The date is March the 23rd the time in nineteen thirty,
A time for authors and readers to get all down and dirty.
So if you’d join Darren in his live event,
It might be an opportunity that is from heaven sent,
To ask those questions that make authors flustered,
And find out just what is his favourite sort of custard.
And so it just remains to say without a single care
That I look forward to seeing you all there.
Here are the instructions for tonight, we are going to be very busy, and we need to stay organised :)
In the first part, we'll be talking about Darren, as a reader and a writer.
Then there will be a big chunk of the evening dedicated to his books. It would be really helpful if we could try and stay on the same subject/book for as long as we can, instead of jumping from one book to another. We'll talk about them all, so you will have a chance to ask your question. If you come on here a bit late, don't worry and fire away anyway, I'm sure Darren won't mind ;)
Darren, Patti, Simon and I wish you all a fantastic evening, and thank you in advance for your presence and/or participation :)
