[Group Events] F2F Three: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Book 1). Sunday, March 25 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.! It was a success!
AennA & KD, sorry! senior moment. HahaFrom Timog, when you reach the Boy Scout rotonda, DON'T go straight. Go around the rotonda to Tomas Morato (on your left). Then when you reach the first traffic light (na may McDo sa left), turn right to Roces Avenue.
KD, wala na yung Pantranco, haha. Actually, from Quezon Avenue, dapat mag right siya sa D&E wala nang may alam ng D&E. Hindi ko alam yung landmark don. Parang may Ever grocery at Chow King.
Diretso hanggang Tomas Morato. Then pagdating sa McDo, kaliwa. May Papemelroti nga roon. Nagkamali lang siguro si V. Let's wait for her.
Wala akong naaala-alang McDo sa kanan ng Timog after Boy Scouts Rotunda. Parang left side meron. Kahilera ng Yam Cha (Meet Up 2 venue).
Nasa McDo EDSA-Quezon Ave MRT station ako ng Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. (sharp). I will pick up my schooling kids: Angus, Maria, Kristel, Kwesi. May 3 vacant seats pa.
So, yung naiisip kong from Quezon Ave, e lumiko papuntang Roces Ave., eh hindi pwede? Yun kasi mukhang pinakamadaling tignan sa mapa.
AennA: Ride ka na lang sa akin. I have to be gentle with you kasi first time attendee ka ng F2F hahaha.V: Okay na rin yan. Maliit lang ang Maynila. Manawagan sya sa radyo pag nawala sya (panahon natin hahaha). I also think that AennA has Jzhun's cellphone (dahil close sila) so puwede syang mag-text hahaha.
Haha"
Hindi, ayos lang! It's an option din naman for me. At least kahit san umikot eh pwede. It just so happen na di ko ako familiar sa mga street na yun, especially those landmarks na minention niyo kaya ako nahilo. Hehehe
Tas may makikita kang Papemelroti.
K.D & Veronica - THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll try to find my way muna with all the maps & instructions you shared. Sorry for the hassle, hahaha.
Paano pumunta: the Tomas Morato Way-Commuter's Jeepney Way
I'm calling the place for the reservation of seats this Sunday. I'll be reserving 16 seats. para at least may sure space tayo sa Sunday. Remember this is an eat all you can brunch, so expect many other people, we can't own the place for ourselves
Thanks, Ranee. Then kung di conducive, let's look for other places sa Tomas or nearby. Baka puwede pa sa Max's. Normally, patay namang oras before lunch eh.
Ahaha! :D

Meet Up DiaryF2F Three. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Sunday, March 27, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Moderator: Doc Ranee
Awesome! 4 hours of delicious non-stop eating and discussions. Doc Ranee, the moderator, knew the nooks and crannies of the books (not just the first!). She explained everything that some members (including me) missed or did not understand. She even gave away some nice cool towelettes with "Don't Panic" stickers.
Champorado. Daing. Sausages with mustard. Adobong manok at baboy. Fresh mango, papaya, banana, pineapple. Cakes! Lots of different cakes! Fruit juices. Overflowing ice tea! Glorious, glorious foods!
It was my first F2F na parang di sumakit ang ulo ko hahahaha. I asked myself why. Although the food competed with the discussion, we were able to share our ideas about the book. It helped that the book was light and fantasy/sci-fi so there was nothing really philosophically profound about it. But the ideas were mind-blowing. Who would have thought of those things? Fish inside your ears! Earth as a big computer! Marvin the paranoid android! Computer committing suicide! Hats off to the imagination and creativity of Douglas Adams. May he rest in peace hahahaha.
Saludos, Doc Ranee! Thanks again for the wonderful job as the moderator. We loved every minute of it.

Thank you also, Po for making that one a reality and a success!
We also welcomed the three newbies in the F2F: Maricis (another Flipper! Welcome, welcome!!!), Beejay (who holds office in the same building where I work at!), AennA (silent "e" pala yon!) Sana di kayo madadala. Looking forward to seeing all of you in the succeeding F2F's.

I'll open the online poll within this week. As per agreed procedure, di pa tayo sigurado rito kasi may second round pa! Let the real campaign begin! And may the odds be in your favor! Lalaban kami ni Tina plus Veronica!!! hahahaha
Jzhun: As discussed, daming mga threads na parang nawawala. Veronica suggested that we create a folder for all the promotions, announcements na kung anu-ano ng kung sinu-sino. Thanks for handling this! *nahihiya sa paguutos* hahahaha. Kasi pag ako yan, baka ma-delete ko agad hahahaha. At may tumawag na naman sa aking nazi or big brother or censor hahahaha.
Thank you!
Please start reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Let's prove to everyone that TFG can read hardcore classics! Time to show some class hahahaha.
WAIT! Di ba hate nina Kwesi at Maria si Ishiguro? I'm quite sure they voted for To Kill a Mockingbird. I had to watch the movies given by Aaron, but oops, nagcrack yung DVD.
Sa newbies, Beejay and Maricris, hello! Hindi ko man lang kayo nakausap, hahaha, I was seated so far away. I hope you had a great time and see you on April!
Angus wrote: "WAIT! Di ba hate nina Kwesi at Maria si Ishiguro? I'm quite sure they voted for To Kill a Mockingbird."Still, that book is an isolated case, dear Celtic God.
I'm quite elated of them that they're still willing to give Ishiguro a chance. :)
exactly, Jzhun.
The reason why I am voting for The Color Purple is that it tackles women's rights (right to live, right to have a peaceful life, right to have a happy marriage, right to have children, right to love and be loved). These are universal rights that all women, regardless of race, should enjoy. This book is not really about religion but shows us about how some people in a certain race (in this case, black) can be prejudicial against women.Almost all of the book clubs in America have discussed this book and they had very insightful discussions. Here at the home front, we all have to admit that even if we already had 2 female presidents, discrimination against women still happens in our society.
*bow*
Vote for The Color Purple!
K.D. wrote: "This book is not really about religion but shows us about how some people in a certain race (in this case, black) can be prejudicial against women."The book will still tackle a little bit about religion, but it's not the conservative one that we know. You'll see.
Thanks, Jzhun. Religion is also good. I am reading The Immoralist by Andre Gide because one of my friends say that it is a good book for Lent as it is about religion. But oh, at least on its first part, it is about homosexuality. Old English guys falling for (in the book, enjoying by looking at...) Middle-Eastern young good-looking boys hahahaha.
So, siguro depende yang "about this/about that" sa perception ng reader.
The reason I am voting for To Kill a Mockingbird is that it is a timeless novel. It is a classic in any sense of the word. It tackles the following: the dichotomy of good and bad, social injustice, the importance of courage, and the loss of innocence.More book clubs in America have discussed this book than Remains or Purple, and some of these clubs were dumb enough to not have any insightful discussions. We all have to admit that even though we've already grown tired of these recurring themes, people still attach their blinders so they don't see the full view of reality.

Vote for To Kill A Mockingbird
K.D. wrote: "So, siguro depende yang "about this/about that" sa perception ng reader. I don't want to spill the beans at the get go; besides, we have yet to see what book will win the July book for the month.
The reason why I am voting for The Remains of the Day because it is about life, what other things you could have done with it given that chances are in your favor, would you have changed anything? With Ishiguro's deft and fluid prose, like a stream of water with its on rush sweep, yet soft and delicate as it touches upon your skin, it offers a lot of reflection about life and more.
Personally I am fine with any of the three books, except I'm more biased with Purple and Remains kasi I haven't read them yet. I liked Mockingbird, pero you know, new book > rereading kahit na maganda pa.
That being said, while I did vote for The Color Purple (and will probably vote for that din once the polls are up), just for the fun of it: My vote is for sale.
:P
The next poll will decide who among the 3 male moderators has the capacity to rally members to vote for his personal pick (book). Magkakasubukan hahahaha. Walang aasahan. Peace dear. :)Pero, I'm up to the challenge hahaha. Vote buying na ito hahahaha. Angus i-open mo ang poll for 1 month hahahaha.
Rollie: Thanks! Let's support F2F Four - Jane Eyre. Maganda yan.
For the meantime:
Please vote "The Color Purple"
KD: I'm creating the poll now. I've decided to hide the answers until the end of the 10-day voting period para walang vote-buying. :p
Angus: Waaaah, dapat may vote-buying! hahahaha. LOL.
Maria dear: Puwede ka pang magpalit. Go Purple!
I will see to it that I will reread Jane Eyre and do some analysis on this.
PS to everyone: TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is my vote. I just love the book, no other reasons to reiterate. :)
Paano mag-edit ng poll? Hahaha! Bukas pa lang siya ma-oopen, or mamayang hapon. Goodreads is following the US time, I think.

Di ko pa narating yong sinasabi mo na from Boy Scout Rotunda go straight tapos may McDo turn right. May McDo ba roon? Burger King yon at Mother Ignacia yata yon hahaha.
