SOLVED. Picture book about memories...[s]

The young (boy?) in this book lives near an old folks home (?). He asks each resident what a memory is...he collects their answers and an object (one of the answers was "Something warm, my dear, something warm..."; one of the objects was a feather boa) from each of them and then returns to his grandparent/special older friend to sort through the box and restore their memories to them. Pictures were soft watercolors. Thought it might be Mem Fox or Stephen Gammell? Book was slightly oversized, but square, with lots of white space on the cover... Printed after 1990 but before 2006.
