Bizarre as this is going to sound, the book that first hooked me on paranormal romance was neither paranormal nor a romance. One of the (many) things I took away from Ender's Game was an interest in the concept of how different intelligent species might interact, and I've since concluded that love is a very interesting interaction as applied to beings with wildly differing natures. (That said, the first PNR in the proper sense that I ever read was the cheesy but charming Hawksong.)

In my teens and early twenties I was reading fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Phillip Pullman, Harry Potter, Trudi Canavan and Terry Brooks). I'm my mid-twenties, at the same time as the hype, I read the Twilight books. Loved them at the time. Then I discovered Kresley Cole (first IAD book I read was Pleasures of a Dark Prince) and I was immediately hooked on PNR. Kresley was followed by Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld, the Fever series, Black Jewels, Anita Blake and JR Ward. PNR and UF is pretty much all I read now!
I found JR Ward first but I was told to read Twilight before it so I would finish it!Actually there might be one before that *thinks*! Er I can't remember!!

:)
My love of vampires began with Anne Rice's Interview With the Vampire. I found my addiction with Dark Prince which is still one of my favorites although the series has lost it's luster overall.

I have re-read it more times than I can count. I think I might do another re-read soon. Love Gregori!
Twilight was my first foray in to PNR light I'm sad to admit. But my first real hot steamy PNR read was Pleasure of a Dark Prince by Kresley Cole. I remember being oh so flustered reading that first sexy scene in the bayou. Gareth is so hot!
first PNR was a horrible book by Feehan, then The Accidental Vampire by Sands. Which led me to read the rest of the Argeneau series by Sands. Surprisingly I did give Feehan another chance and tried and read all of the Carpathian series.
I reviewed
as a joke on my blog. Then I read the other two novellas in Zoe Winters' Prenatural series. And now I have some strange interest with PNR.
