Joshua Nomen-Mutatio (joshuanomenmutatio) I read this book about 8 years ago. I'm almost certain of the title. I'm pretty sure it's just The End. It was probably about 200 pages more or less. I've searched and searched several times for it on goodreads, amazon, googlebooks, and regular ol' Google. I've searched many combinations including words that would be in a review or synopsis of the book. I've found nothing! And I'm so sure of the title as well.

So what I remember about it:

It takes place in Canada, possibly Quebec. The entire book is told from the perspective of this structural engineer who builds bridges and such. The entire book is his suicide note which ends up being written directly to different family members at various points and involves lots of deep autobiographical recollection. One recollection I vaguely recall involved a woman he was either romantically involved with or a family member (not both though, ha ha) is involved in some political protest in Canada (Quebec, maybe?).

His suicidal plan is to drive his car into one of the overpass structures he's designed as a symbol of his dissatisfaction with his cold, calculating profession and he has the impending event all planned out in detail. I can't even remember how it ends exactly, he may have ended up backing out of the suicide...?

I can't be sure about the author's name, but I have a vague thought that it might've been mildly French-Canadian sounding...? First and/or last name beginning with a "C"...?

I'd love to track this down, mainly because I'm amazed that I can't find it through the normal channels of internet searching. And I know I didn't imagine this. I gave my brother a copy for Christmas one year a while back but he no longer has it and remembers even less about it than I do. And my copy has also been lost to some vortex or another.

Thanks for reading, I hope someone can help me find this.

-Josh

P.S. The cover was dark blueish overall and was a painted image of a night time scene of a bridge and a car (the suicidal plan) and there was snow falling.
