Sara | 2 comments I read this book within the last two years. It is probably a YA or Fiction novel. It was set in a alternate reality where the main character & her family lived outside of a walled city. The main character's mom was a midwife & every baby she deliveded she put a small drop of ink on the bottom of their foot. This becomes important because it is the only way to distinguish where the babies who grow up in the city are from. The goverment/people in power took the main character's parents away and she goes to live in jail/the city. She meets this guy who is super cute & great and they start falling in love, but it's forbidden because she lived outside and he has always lived inside. All of the children in the city are adopted because the inhabitants of the city are infertile. The male lead is very conflicted because he wants to fall in love first & then start a family. His adopted sister committed suicide because she liked him and he rejected her. For some reason, all hell breaks looks & the main character flees the city, taking a baby with her. There is a sequal to this I think too.

No problem! :) I started to read it a little while ago, but ended up stopping for some reason. Maybe I'll try again if you enjoyed it :)
