Goodreads has a cool new feature in Beta to allow groups to create their own challenges. I've added one for this group around reading books that are set locally. You can pick however many local books you want to read in 2012. You can find the challenge listed on our group's main page.

Feel free to post the names of any local books you read this year here in this topic!

Last week, I just read a non-fiction book set in Boston & Duxbury. Shucked: Life on a New England Oyster Farm is about the writer's experience working at Island Creek Oyster for a year.

Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin - chick lit set in metrowest area of Boston

Faith by Jennifer Haigh a tale set in a fictional South Shore town

The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal by Ben Mezrich non-fiction work about Facebook founders set mostly at MIT.

I read Faith and Heart of the Matter and then I also read

Heat Wave by Nancy Thayer which is set in Nantucket

and

Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan. Although their summer home is in Maine they live i MA during the off season-Dedham (I think!) Needham, Newton, and Braintree are mentioned.

Jason (ancatdubh2) I've heard good things about Caleb's Crossing, which is written by the author of People of the Book, but I have not read it yet. It is also set in the Vineyahd.
