I was just wondering something. As I was reading the first book in The Infernal Devices after I had read the first three books in The Mortal Instruments I couldn't really enjoy the story because I found it very annoying that the two stories feel so similar to me. Of course there is a difference, but I just feel like it is pretty much the same. Am I the only one?

There are definitely some similarities, but after having read all the books that are out in both series I don't think they are that much alike.

I can see where it would seem similar because its the same plot-type, but I think it is soo much better than MI because Clare incorporates little blips of old Lit and you can really see how her writing is developing much further because she allows the readers to think beyond the book by the way she conveys insightful and meaningful ideas or thoughts. I also loved how it had a Victorian twist! Maybe you would like the second book more? The characters relationships seem to grow more. She adds on a lot from where she left off in her first book of ID.
