"In this thread, everyone will post their reviews/opinions of the book they have read this week AFTER you rate/review it on your page. The purpose of this is so everyone can see what you read this week and read your review without having to visit each profile. Some of you have their profiles locked, so this saves you the trouble of unlocking it.

ANY COMMENTS THAT ARE NOT RELATED TO THAT MATTER WILL BE DELETED.

The format will be like this:

Name of book.
Author.
n/5 stars.

"Your simple opinion/extended review/one word that expresses what you thought of the book. GO CRAZY! Anything counts. Don't feel pressured."

Link to your review.

Also, this allows us to be organized, so even if a member didn't log in for about a month, they can add the book they've read to the appropriate thread.

THANK YOU ALL!

EDIT:
As I've mentioned in the guidelines, one word or a simple opinion counts as a 'review'. I only called it that because Goodreads calls it that."

Now let's see your achievements, awesome people.

MAJOR improvement from That Summer!
Something I still don't understand in this life is that how someone can love a person that hurts them that much (physically) and still want to be around them.

Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane (Underland Chronicles, #2) by Suzanne Collins
By Suzanne Collins.
5/5

This book compliments the first one so very well; filling in the blanks the first one might have missed. I had my reservations before regarding the fact that this book is somehow too coincidental or predictable and I was proven wrong... When you think you had it all figured out, you are surprised with way things turn out , putting the whole story into a whole new perspective.

Now for the skeptical readers who can't put up with the notion of talking rats and cockroaches. Let me tell you this; It's not what you think. You're gonna find them pleasantly surprising! They are so beautifully portrayed. Each having their own personality. That after a while, you stop perceiving them lightly and might even start empathizing with a cockroach. Two of my favorite characters are rats. One tough cookie and a wise sarcastic veteran. And I LOVE Timp the crawler, the way it talks, so cute. Yes, a cockroach.

The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt
Title: The Sisters Brothers
Author: Patrick deWitt
I gave it a 3/5

Reading this book was like watching a western movie. I must admit that it got me hooked at time, but not throughout. It’s about two brothers, Charlie and Eli Sisters (I loved the surname), in the 1850s that happen to be killers for a big boss man. Eli is the kind hearted one but with an evident short fuse, while Charlie is the charismatic yet more ruthless killer. I preferred Eli over his brother from the get go and my admiration grew with every page. I only gave it 3 stars because something felt missing, the book ended but felt unfinished somehow. My heart went out for other characters as well, especially Morris and Warm.

If you got the time, give it a go.

This book made stop thinking so much about the future and enjoy the present more. I ain't in a hurry anymore! I don't get frustrated when the driver is late. I liked how it described how the professor(Morrie)'s disease developed through the days. It made me think of the people I knew that was completely healthy and then lost all that to a car accident or a stroke. This book helps you realize how much blessed you are.

A good funny book, full of wizards and ghosts and gods. I liked the amount of info I got about London and its rivers, I would diffentily go exploring one day.
Diffentily reading rest of the series.

Title: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

It's a story of Henrietta Lacks, a poor Southern tobacco farmer, buried in an unmarked grave sixty years ago. Yet her cells - taken without her knowledge - became one of the most important tools in medical research. Known to science as HeLa, the first "immortal" human cells grown in culture are still alive today, and have been bought and sold by the millions.

Now Rebecca Skloot takes us on an extraordinary journey, from the “colored” ward of Johns Hopkins Hospital in the 1950s to stark white laboratories with freezers full of HeLa cells; from Henrietta’s small, dying hometown of Clover, Virginia — a land of wooden slave quarters, faith healings, and voodoo — to East Baltimore today, where her children and grandchildren live and struggle with the legacy of her cells.

Such a great book! I loved it and could not put it down!

** spoiler alert ** This was the final book of the trilogy. I have mixed reactions to this book. The first quarter of the book was very good and but the second quarter and final quarter was very lame. The ending to me was just horrible. I was greatly disappointed by the ending. Some of the chapters were fast paced while others just slowed down to a crawl and this was without any sense.

After finishing the trilogy, I wouldn't recommend this really. Only the first book maybe.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Meh. This book was a bit lukewarm. I think you get to a point when you've read so many Jacqueline Wilson titles they start to sound like each other. I must say the ending was good, though, I wonder whether Ms. Wilson is setting it up for a sequel.

But, if you've got a kid in the house, by all means hand them this book. They'll enjoy it just as much as the rest.
