Early TGDA Book Discussion *SPOILER ALERT*

We all saw what happened when Leland used Charley as bait. Now we saw what happened when Reyes used Charley as bait. Charley needs to show them she is NOT a victim. Charley takes care of herself and everyone she cares about. She's a winner...but she needs to move out from Dad's bar and stand on her own. Then she can say "Nee ner, nee ner" and have meaning behind it. The men in her life need to back off and let her become what she is destined to be!

Oh he meant to use her but I don't think he wanted her seriously injured...hurt feelings he can deal with. I think he would lie, cheat, use, etc to get what he wants, but that doesn't make him evil. And those type of actions are part of what will keep the story going for us.

They didnt find anything wrong with his heart during surgery ,so they think he was born with the heart problems. Will probably be on medication for the rest of his life

Well, they have started to perform coronary calcium scans here, it can detect plaque in the arteries and estimate how at what rate it will harden(You could find out up to 15 years before you ever suffer from a heart attack) and if you will need to be treated aggressively for heart disease. It is an incredible preventive measure that more doctors should recommend.

Cher, Why would I kill you...I do not believe Reyes is evil? Are you saying he is? I was trying to prove that he is not...he tries to protect everyone. An evil being would not put themselves in harms way to protect another and Reyes has done so on multiple occasions. :)

Leah, read the mystery guest blog when Darynda Jones chatted with us. She specifically stated no love triangles with Garrett. She also said she has no intentions for them to get together...she has other ideas for Garrett.

I am not convinced he would purposely lie to Charlie...maybe I am too naive but I just do not feel it,

Yeah, he was super upset about he whole thing too. His dad had the power to make him feel like the abused child all over again, hopeless and powerless. Those are strong emotions to turn off no matter how big and bad he is now. It must of been horrific for him to know that monster had his star and was cutting her up. I think we will find out just how devastating it was for him. He meant to be there, his dad was never suppose to touch Charley.

I totally agree, Dana... Reyes apologizes to Charlie more than once. I do not think Charlie would have been as upset except he put Cookie's daughter in danger...

Reyes was not close to her...she had to unbind him so he could get to her in time. Reyes was running to her but because he was bound to his body he would not get to her in time.

I don't know but that one I will def check. Kinda sad I was more worried about whether I was correct in my sex comment thought lmao which I checked and I can't find a single scene were there actually both corporeal and getting it on. Reyes just had to f@#k up royally in the only book so far we could have had some real sex in.

Nawnee, I believe Reyes wanted to use her investigative abilities and use her as a lure to trap his nasty father but he never wanted her or anyone else hurt. He expected to always be near her to protect her but could not keep close enough because of Garrett.. His biggest mistake is not thinking things through and using his brain. Too much damn testosterone!

Leah,

1st: Welcome to the group. I should have said that the first time and I apologize.

2nd: Reyes and Charlie do not have a normal relationship...they are spiritually connected. Unfortunately, they are only beginning to understand (and in Reyes case remember) the connection. Reyes can read souls and fell in love with Charlie at her birth so he gave up his life as son of Satan to become mortal and be born a human to live with her. He did not remember who he or she is and things did not go as he planned.

3rd: As far as building a relationship...this takes time.. A war may need to be fought. The demons will need to be prevented from getting into Heaven. Reyes and Charlie are only beginning...they just feel the connection but have not made sense of it yet.

4th: I may be all wrong, but as relationships grow so does trust, respect, and understanding. My hope for this series is that Charlie and Reyes will need to cooperate as partners with full trust in order to prevent the end of the world. Through their collaboration, their love will grow to be much deeper than hot, passionate sex.

5th: Darynda Jones did not specify what Charlie's HEA will be, but she did say there would be no love triangles with Reyes, Charlie, and Garrett. She has something else in mind for Garrett.

We are happy to have you with us, Leah. As I am only speculating about the future of Charlie and Reyes, anything could happen. I am biased towards the idea of some sort of HEA for Charlie and Reyes.

I have to say it's so nice to have a group of people to talk to about the books I read non of my friends read as quickly as I do so I'm always having to hold my tongue so I don't ruin things for them. This series is the first one I've had people to talk, also the first one that had me on a roller coaster ride of emotions I think that's a sign that Darynda is a great author lol
