I'm sure Darynda said that For I Have Sinned takes place after the third book, but I am having a hard time gluing the pieces together. In TGDA Reyes and Charley's relationship was angsty and anger-filled, but in FIHS it felt like things were patched up? What do you ladies think?

patched up?hmmm..I'll be honest, I lost a little love for Reyes in this.I really felt sorry for Charley at the end. When the biker comes in and she explains to Garrett why she was doing what she doing. She;s been too hurt by the men she loves in her life. Her father taking the cake.

I got the feeling that things were going good also but the end of book two wasn't a positive thing for their relationship so I was expecting some problems in the third book. I wasn't expecting what happened in the third book at all but def keeps me on my toes with the story line. I too read through the books a little fast I was going to reread them all just to see if I missed something

Ines (slayraa) | 684 comments I finished the book as well (yay!) and I'm with you, a little startled at the ending but I think I would first forgive Reyes than her father. (view spoiler) Another great story and I really like Ubie and Cookie, they're there for her all the way.

Thank goodness for Cookie & Ubie!!! I am soo angry at Charley's dad. Here Charley had forgiven him and was ready to move past his betrayal in book 2-then he turns around and does it AGAIN!

message 28: by Mel (new)

Mel | 829 comments I think the men in this series may need some hormone therapy...too much testosterone preventing them from thinking clearly. I am not happy with Reyes right now either...sexy son of Satan can shove it for a while. ARG!! He needs to learn a lesson. I can't wait to fall to learn more about Garrett...

message 29: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindymac52) Mel wrote: "I think the men in this series may need some hormone therapy...too much testosterone preventing them from thinking clearly. I am not happy with Reyes right now either...sexy son of Satan can shove..."

WHY do guys thinks they're a know all, be all in our universe? Numb nuts!

message 30: by Mel (new)

Mel | 829 comments They do not have big enough brains....oh wait they think with the wrong head. Again, maybe the men in Charlie's life needs some hormone therapy...their testosterone is way too high. She needs to start slipping something in their food or coffee. Do you think estrogen would curb their sex appeal too much if it was in small enough doses? Oh well, probably...damn it. In order to have all that sex appeal, we must live with men with the inability to think rationally... Shucks, the eye candy and great sex has it's draw backs after all. :p

message 31: by Cher (new)

Cher | 126 comments you guys are too funny!
I would bet good money that we'll be pissed at Reyes throughout the next book and love him again in the end.I would also guess that Charley and the biker will date and I don't think Reyes will be alone either.Does anyone think that this is Charley's time of suffering that the nun suggested was coming?

message 32: by Mel (new)

Mel | 829 comments Reyes date another...oh I really hope not!!! It would make him less likable. He was able to sow his wild oats in previous life times so too speak, long before Charlie was ever conceived. He is the son of Satan. As far as Charlie...I do not know. She is pissed!!!!! I am too. ARG, men! I cannot picture her with another though. I believe her suffering occurred in book 3 before she received her guardian???

message 33: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindymac52) I think we'll see Reyes and Charley in sync because they NEED to be. It's like Mistress Marigold said...they are magnets, so in the right time and space they are drawn together, turn them around and they become polar opposites and push apart. As far as Donovan goes...hmmm! Curious question!

message 34: by Annii (new)

Annii Darynda said she probs wont have a love triangle between charlie, donovan and reyes... Thnk god!! Hate them
Reyes was abit of a pest last book but i still love him

message 35: by Ines (new)

Ines (slayraa) | 684 comments I don't think there'll be a love triangle (or square for that matter) because Darynda said she didn't like triangles. Anyway, they have to be together for the war that is to come and Reyes has kind of acted like her guardian for some time as well. And Cher, Mel is right: her suffering was in book 3 because the nun says exactly "Very bad indeed, but don’t worry, they’re going to send you a guardian right after a time of great suffering for you.” So the great suffering was the torture before the lovely 4-legged guardian came.

Moreover, I have to say I kind of understand Reyes' actions better than her father. Even though they know each other, they don't know each other properly and Charley kept trying to run away from him all the time and didn't exactly believe him when he said he hadn't killed Walker - they do have trust issues. Not to mention Reyes confessed he used her as target and he could protect her whereas her father doesn't confess anything and keeps going behind her back. He doesn't seem to be sorry either, I must say.

message 36: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindymac52) Lets face it...her Dad's a putz, P*U*T*Z, putz! I think Charley should pack up her office and move. Oh, and pay back the coffee! *mumbles* putz!

message 37: by Nawnee (new)

Nawnee (nawnees) | 132 comments it's good to see I'm not the only one that threw her hands up when the book was done and grumbled arrgh! Hot man candy that Reyes is I wanted to smack him so much in this book. I do have to say when the sister says she will get a guardian and be the reason the person dies I was a little concerned about who charley would end up with. But the four legged guardian was a huge relief to me I knew if garret was the guardian charley would have never gotten over the thought that she killed him.

You made me search the word up on "Urban Dictionary"! And now I that I know what it means, I can say I totally agree! lol And she does need an office that is not "paid" by her father, you're right.

Cindy wrote: "Lets face it...her Dad's a putz, P*U*T*Z, putz! I think Charley should pack up her office and move. Oh, and pay back the coffee! *mumbles* putz!"

Remember back with our visit with Darynda and she mentioned that Denise would be coming to Charley in the future for someone else's behalf? Well, I'm betting that will be dear old dad. Hopefully he'll see the light by then and realize how wrong he's been and that Charley is wonderful just as she is!

I was really frustrated with Reyes there at the end too! I can understand that he intended to protect her throughout his plan...but jeez!! Talk to the girl already and let her know what's going on!!! The only way they're going to win the war is to be a team and that means getting together and actually talking the plan out so everyone is on the same page!!! I don't think she and Donovan will get together, but I do hope she torments Reyes a bit with him so maybe he'll finally see the light too!

Traci...communication? What man has ever heard of the word and understood it's meaning? Working and talking together is a miraculas concept, huh! Men are worse than pig s**t at times.

Mel | 829 comments Oh my...I cannot believe you called Reyes a Putz, Cindy. I was thinking arrogant ass... Grrr. Do you still luuv him? I do, I am just royally ticked off!

message 44: by Mel (new)

Mel | 829 comments Traci...I guess we can't have everything we want. An alpha is powerful, great in bed but stubborn as hell. A girl has gotta ask whether earth shattering orgasms are worth putting up with an alpha's stubborn personality. I gotta think in today's world when one can travel for work or live apart that it is probably really worth it! :p

message 45: by Cher (new)

Cher | 126 comments It's funny how pissed we all were with the men in Charley's life.My mom just finished the book and called to gab about it.I was bitchin' about how Reyes treated Charley and although my mom agreed with him being an ass, she also added that he's trying to teach her something. She brought up, how Reyes acted in the hospital when Charley freaked out.I believe he said "finally". Sorry, can't quote the book,Mom stole it.

Traci (Mad Hatter Reads) (traci-madhatterreads) | 609 comments Mod
I figure that we love them too much not to put up with them, but we definitely need to have a girls night (or weekend) with plenty of alcohol to help us with our frustrations...and having plenty of hot eye-candy around won't hurt either :P

I so have to get this book back to reread.I can't remember what he said. I don't agree with my mom at all.I think he did it to get unbound and found innocent.Personally, I think he did trust her or he wouldn't have brought her to his friends house. She could have told the police they were helping.I just wonder what her father has as proof of her helping him?I hope it's not Ambers phone pic. That would suck.

message 50: by Ines (new)

Ines (slayraa) | 684 comments The scene at the hospital goes like this:

“Rey’aziel,” I whispered under my breath with every intention of sending him back to his body for good, but he was in front of me at once.
“Don’t you dare,” he said, his voice a low growl.
I glowered at him. “You don’t get to order me around.”
He pushed his hood back, his face startlingly beautiful, inches from mine. “So you’re going to punish me? Unbind me when you need me, then bind me again when you don’t?” He leaned so close, I could smell the lightning storm roiling inside him, the earthy dampness of morning dew evaporating under the heat of the sun. “Fuck you, then.”
I shook to my core, the anger sparking within me, catching fire and flooding the area with the energy pouring out of me. In a word, I threw a fit.

(...)

Screams and shouts echoed down the hall. People were struggling to their feet. Equipment had toppled over and light fixtures hung from the ceiling by wires.
And my father looked at me. And he knew.
Then Reyes was in front of me again, an expression that was part anger and part satisfaction lit his beautiful, traitorous features. “Finally,” he said, right before he disappeared."
