I give it 4 stars on 2/14/2012
This was a very fun read about a woman scorned who just so happened to be a modern day Lois Lane! On the day of her wedding she finds her fiance having sex with her best friend and on top of that they turn out to be a super hero and a ubervillain and she never had a clue! Was she hurt? Heck no she was mad as hell and went on a rampage using her job as a reporter to unmask any and every superhuman she could to exact her revenge. We can already see even this far in that she is gonna find herself in some deep doo-doo fairly quick right? Trajedy is certainly on the horizon and she must depend on the very ones she is unmasking for help and/or love perhaps?
This was my first taste of Jennifer Estep and now I am not only anxious to continue this series but also pick up her Elemental one! It was just different from the stories I am used to reading with my furry friends and dead friends and those hunks that bite. Makes me wanna sing out "I kissed a superhero and I liked it!" lol

"Lia and Cassie had been best friends since elementary school, and each developed her own style of eating disorder that leads to disaster. Now 18, they are no longer friends. Despite their estrangement, Cassie calls Lia 33 times on the night of her death, and Lia never answers."
So many times I wanted to fling this book at a wall while reading it. I wanted to yell at it, be mad, and hate it. I know your wondering how can that be when you gave it a 5/5 rating Jennifer? Quite simply is because it scared me, it made me cry, and it made me "feel". Laurie's books are strong and I wished they or some like them could have been around when I was a teenager. I needed them. My friends needed them. I mean basically when I was a teenager all we had was Dr Seuss and other typical "happy" feely books and as much as I adored Dr Seuss he didn't help a dang bit with our growing pains.
Wintergirls is a powerful book as was Speak and I think it offers a bit of something for anybody not just teens who suffer from most any type of disorder or depression. Laurie has a unique voice and gift to get her point across on disturbing subject matter in a way that offers the reader strength and hope and lets one know that they are not alone and things can be better.

edit: nooooooooooo -headdesk-

Then, Iron Crowned happened. :|

There was so many surprises and twists in this book, that got me totally hooked :)There was adventure, love, murder and lots of ghost. It was perfect end for this series, but it felt more like one adventure ended and new one will start. Im little sad that its over...I want more!!

And I started my free space book and it should be a really quick read so we should have that one soon too. :)

Then, Iron Crowned happened. :|"
Oooh, this was me exactly. Only then I read the last one and went to :<

I know nothing of the book and I still know nothing following your review. Your job is to get me to read it.
Come on, you can do it!!! Go, Laura!!!

But the RULES state:
*NOTE: Your review does not have to win any awards for it's grammar or prose, however all reviews must be longer than "I really dis/liked it." Include what you did/n't like about it, if you'll read anything else in the series or by the same author, and anything else that made it a stand-out or crapped-out read for you.

Laura - if you get a chance can you pad out your Free Space one too? I'll have mine done today and then we'll get another stamp. :)
PS - Summer Knight is one of my faves in that series too. I think that's the book where it goes from being a nice, fun series to a really excellent one with a lot of depth.

And I think this rule is new with this round because I've seen people write one liners in the past.

i edited my Free Space review too :) i will keep in mind to write longer ones for next books reviews.

Per the rules: ✯ Favorite Series ~ choose a book from one of your favorite series
I'm off to figure out my favorite series that has a new book that I'm not caught up on yet.

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'supernatural'.

Good Job!! :D

Actually its not new but with so many participants we are cracking down on it, to make it fair.

And I'm off to go request our second stamp!

Makes sense, with all the teams now. I don't know how you ladies do it.

Thanks for adding to your review, Laura.
A big part of what makes BSB so much fun is finding books to read (or at least add to our ever-growing TBR stacks), not only from roaming the GR shelves, but also by reading players' reviews.
