Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments I'm going to read This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost - I'm apparently one book behind you, Sallie!

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments Hey Ladies - I finally finished my "supernatural" book White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison ...4*s...I loved it...there is a lot to be said for this book but cant really say much as I dont want to give anything away for those who have not read this series. Rachel is definitely not having an easy life in this book but my heart broke when she realizes Kisten is her "love" wow - cant wait to read the next book in this series soon - if you have not read the "hollow" series you are most definitely missing out.

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments I am giving This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost 4 stars - I love Cat and Bones! (view spoiler)

JenniferJ My Free Space Review for Karma Girl (Bigtime, #1) by Jennifer Estep

I give it 4 stars on 2/14/2012

This was a very fun read about a woman scorned who just so happened to be a modern day Lois Lane! On the day of her wedding she finds her fiance having sex with her best friend and on top of that they turn out to be a super hero and a ubervillain and she never had a clue! Was she hurt? Heck no she was mad as hell and went on a rampage using her job as a reporter to unmask any and every superhuman she could to exact her revenge. We can already see even this far in that she is gonna find herself in some deep doo-doo fairly quick right? Trajedy is certainly on the horizon and she must depend on the very ones she is unmasking for help and/or love perhaps?

This was my first taste of Jennifer Estep and now I am not only anxious to continue this series but also pick up her Elemental one! It was just different from the stories I am used to reading with my furry friends and dead friends and those hunks that bite. Makes me wanna sing out "I kissed a superhero and I liked it!" lol

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I finished my "ghosts shelf" book: One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost ...3*s...I love Cat & Bones but this book was missing something - I was disappointed with the story - just not the usual Cat & Bones flare. I still love the characters but as I said before it was missing the usual finesse.

JenniferJ My Ghost Book Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson gets 5 stars.

"Lia and Cassie had been best friends since elementary school, and each developed her own style of eating disorder that leads to disaster. Now 18, they are no longer friends. Despite their estrangement, Cassie calls Lia 33 times on the night of her death, and Lia never answers."

So many times I wanted to fling this book at a wall while reading it. I wanted to yell at it, be mad, and hate it. I know your wondering how can that be when you gave it a 5/5 rating Jennifer? Quite simply is because it scared me, it made me cry, and it made me "feel". Laurie's books are strong and I wished they or some like them could have been around when I was a teenager. I needed them. My friends needed them. I mean basically when I was a teenager all we had was Dr Seuss and other typical "happy" feely books and as much as I adored Dr Seuss he didn't help a dang bit with our growing pains.

Wintergirls is a powerful book as was Speak and I think it offers a bit of something for anybody not just teens who suffer from most any type of disorder or depression. Laurie has a unique voice and gift to get her point across on disturbing subject matter in a way that offers the reader strength and hope and lets one know that they are not alone and things can be better.

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 245 comments Wintergirls was a really tough read for me because Laurie is so good at writing emotion. She is one of the best YA writers, if not the best, imo.

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments I knew I was going to regret it! I finished my ghosts book. Shadow Heir (Dark Swan, #4) by Richelle Mead . I gave it **. I wrote the most spoilerific review ever. And I can't say what I didn't like about it without huge series/book spoilers. So I'm just going to link my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... And you can read at your own risk.

JenniferJ Valerie I totally agree. Laurie is one of my all time faves. She just has a way with words that can rip your heart out and mend you at the same time....

message 70: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments Without reading your spoiler, Karen, I'm thinking I'll just keep letting that series fall by the wayside :)

Valerie (versusthesiren) | 245 comments When I read Storm Born, I loved it so much that I rec'd it to almost all of my friends. Thorn Queen wasn't as good, but I still liked it.

Then, Iron Crowned happened. :|

Lala | 1065 comments I finished previous week read, so now we can have a stamp :)

The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3) by Kelley Armstrong **** 02/17/12

There was so many surprises and twists in this book, that got me totally hooked :)There was adventure, love, murder and lots of ghost. It was perfect end for this series, but it felt more like one adventure ended and new one will start. Im little sad that its over...I want more!!

message 74: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments Yay! I'll go request our first stamp!

And I started my free space book and it should be a really quick read so we should have that one soon too. :)

Sandra | 25908 comments Laura, you need to do more than a line for a review; it isn't fair to the others.

I know nothing of the book and I still know nothing following your review. Your job is to get me to read it.

Come on, you can do it!!! Go, Laura!!!

message 77: by Lala (new)

Lala | 1065 comments Well Sandra if i write more about it then i give everything out and you wouldnt have anything to read ;) I loved it and i dont wanna give anything away, so that it would be as fun and interesting read for others as it was to me.

message 78: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Laura, I'm not looking for a masterpiece, sadly I've never written one of those myself. LOL

But the RULES state:

*NOTE: Your review does not have to win any awards for it's grammar or prose, however all reviews must be longer than "I really dis/liked it." Include what you did/n't like about it, if you'll read anything else in the series or by the same author, and anything else that made it a stand-out or crapped-out read for you.

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments So now I say "Yay! Our first stamp!" :)

Laura - if you get a chance can you pad out your Free Space one too? I'll have mine done today and then we'll get another stamp. :)

PS - Summer Knight is one of my faves in that series too. I think that's the book where it goes from being a nice, fun series to a really excellent one with a lot of depth.

message 83: by Lala (new)

Lala | 1065 comments I have hard time writing review especially when i like the book. Its so hard to put it in words.

message 84: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments I think what you did above is good. Just a couple of sentences.

And I think this rule is new with this round because I've seen people write one liners in the past.

Actually its not new but with so many participants we are cracking down on it, to make it fair.

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments I finished my Free Space read as well.

Canyons of Night (Looking Glass Trilogy,#3, The Arcane Society,#12) by Jayne Castle **** No matter what name she writes under a book by this author is always like putting on my favorite jeans and sweater. It may not be haute couture but it's comfortable and makes me happy. This one has everything you'd expect from this series, psychic powers, a spunky heroine and an alpha hero (and an awesome dust bunny!) and it introduces just enough new twists to keep it interesting. After two books ending badly this week, this book was just what I needed to recharge my reading batteries.

And I'm off to go request our second stamp!

**humming** With a little lotta help from my friends ...

Thanks for adding to your review, Laura.

A big part of what makes BSB so much fun is finding books to read (or at least add to our ever-growing TBR stacks), not only from roaming the GR shelves, but also by reading players' reviews.
