JenniferJ My Paranormal Mystery Read is The Good Ghouls' Guide to Getting Even by Julie Kenner

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I finished Where There's a Witch (A Bewitching Mystery, #5) by Madelyn Alt , 3*s...i liked this one..there were some really "evil" characters in this go around with the otherworld but Maggie & Co came out ok - the drama around "Maggie & Tom" & "Maggie & Marcus" finally had a little direction..I have the next book in the series on my TBR so will definitely be reading it sometime in the near future.

JenniferJ Review for Fallen by Lauren Kate
3/11/12
3 Stars

It has taken me a while to complete reading Fallen. I kept picking it up and putting it back down from lack of interest. I feel so bad because it has gotten so many wonderful reviews but even after I was in over 200 pages I still was really not into it. Everytime I thought "this" is the moment it is going to take off it just would fizzle back out. The characters were meh but I never really connected with any of them not even Luce. It's obvious she and Daniel is supposed to have this huge love for each other yet he treats her really bad and it seems that the worse he treats her the more intrigued she is with him. The story just drags and drags and only in about the last quarter redeems itself and peaks my attention. I will continue on with the series and hope Torment is better.

I had the same thing with the first book and second was like that for me too. Both books endings are good, i think. Right now im in middle of the third book and its the best one so far. Their love comes out more in third book.

Mandy Beyers (mandybeyers) | 346 comments Review for A Charmed Death (A Bewitching Mystery, #2) by Madelyn Alt - 3.5 stars

I enjoy the mystery aspect of this series - the small-town feel, the fun cast of characters, and the keep-you-guessing whodunnit. The only parts I wasn't crazy about is when the characters discuss religion/paganism - it almost sounds preachy, and I think that Maggie is completely going after the wrong guy. If Tom can't handle her boss being a witch, how on earth is going to handle her? She just needs to move on!

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments I finished my paranormal mystery book on 3/13 but haven't had a chance to post.

Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones ***1/2

I know a lot of people really love this series. I don't really love it but I do find them to be entertaining, fun reads. I think sometimes the humor is forced and the author goes for a punch line instead of character development or plot. In fact, in this book and in the first I thought the plot was a little dark for the tone of the book. I think the humor would be less jarring in a lighter mystery. And that's why I don't love them. But when the humor works, it works very well and it's really funny. I'll certainly read more of the series but I'm not burning rubber to get them.

Lala | 1065 comments finished this weeks read Blood Rites (The Dresden Files, #6) by Jim Butcher ***** 03/16

There was some pretty shocking things happening in this one. As usual Harry was fighting with vampires and was trying to find out who was killing women through a curse and with that case he got himself to a more troble, but also found out that he still has family, a brother.

I love it too. I'm up to Turn Coat (The Dresden Files, #11) by Jim Butcher and I'm currently listening to it on my commute. If you do audiobooks, these are great. James Marsters (Spike!) does the narration and he's so good it makes even going to work fun. :)

Lala | 1065 comments Paranormal Romance: Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione **** 03/18/12

Its fun, sexy read about a woman who finds out she is a half demon and how she handles her life after that. It turned everything up side down for her, mostly because she was a slayer and hated demons for what they done to her mom. In the end she finds love, family and learns to handle her demon half.

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 540 comments My car needed some work today so I had plenty of reading time while waiting and finished by Magic book.

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost ****

Another winner in this series. I love Cat & Bones and their world. Fabian has always been a favorite of mine so I was happy that he gets a larger role (and maybe a ghostly girlfriend). I have to admit that I was missing the rest of the regulars through the first half of the book but soon enough Ian, Spade & Denise show up and of course, Ian gets all the good lines. Can't wait for Vlad's book.

JenniferJ Sorry running bit behind this week been sick. :(

Paranormal Mystery Review The Good Ghouls' Guide to Getting Even (Beth Frasier #1) by Julie Kenner
4 stars
A comedic vampire teen tale. Elizabeth, a star student with a brilliant future ahead of her, gets suckered into a meeting with her dream guy only to wind up being turned into a vampire and seeing her terrific future go up in smoke. This was one of the funniest vampire stories I have ever read! Basically Beth gets mad and then she gets even with the help of her trusty sidekicks.

Night World, No. 1 Secret Vampire; Daughters of Darkness; Spellbinder (Night World,#1-3) by L.J. Smith - 3 stars

I am giving this omnibus of 3 young adult books 3 stars. Like many young adult books, it portrays all adults as the enemy in a way, where there is no adult that can be trusted to help with their problems. Sorry, that just peeves me slightly. Otherwise, it was a fairly good read. In the first book, (view spoiler)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments I finished Spell Bound (Hex Hall, #3) by Rachel Hawkins ..4*s...wow I had read a couple of reviews on this book while I was reading it last night & I wasnt really sure what my reaction was going to be...some liked it others didnt think it was up to the previous 2 standards. I liked the book - yes the snarkiness was there, Sophia discovers alot about herself & where she had her beginnings but other than that the book lacked its usual leave you hanging moment. I am curious though because I got the feeling that this was suppose to be the last book but the ending left you asking what happens next? so if anyone has any news as to whether there is another book I would be most interested.

JenniferJ Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer 5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised with Artemis Fowl because I must confess I went into this book expecting NOT to like it. I have came so close to picking it up several times at the book store but it just never hit me hard enough to buy it so when Netgalley offered it up I decided here was my chance to step outside the comfort zone.

The first couple of pages had me captivated and quickly delved into the extraordinary world of a miniature 007 meets Richie Rich! It was incredibly easy getting sucked into Atemis's wicked schemes and I feel what really made this so enjoyable to me was the fact that it was more of an updated fantasy adventure weilding computers and high tech gadjets instead of just the usual spells, wands, and ect..

I definatley see more Artemis in my future!

I love Mac, she is a gily girl, but the same time she kick ass if needed. But sometimes she needs saving and then comes in mystical Jericho Barrons, who saves the day. In this book she need quite a lot of saving and not always she gets saved by Barrons :P
