CoFA was soo disappointing :'( I hope CoLS isn't as bad as CoFA. Well, maybe CoFA just seemed really bad because I devoured the first three and had really high hopes for CoFA--which didn't deliver. Lemme say, my expectations have dropped considerably, but I still am eagerly awaiting the arrival of City of Lost Souls!!!!!!!!! xD

I just sooooo hope COLS would not be disappointing.
The cover is just beautiful and I hope it won't disappoint me like the other books I read with pretty covers.

Brittany | 4 comments i havent read the infernal devices but definetely mortal instruments i mean jace is soooo dreamy .

Sandee is Reading (sandeeisreading) @Brittany : I highly suggest that you read Infernal devices! :D
If you liked MI then you'd definitely love it too.

That's why still haven't..."

What? I loved City of Fallen Angels just as much as the other 3.
Some people don't like cause Simon is there a lot in this book. But i still think it was just as good.

message 58: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) It's because there wasn't the drama anymore. What kept me hanging onto to TMI so much in the first place was the intensity and the originality of the storyline idea. No other author, at least that I'd read, had ever done that before. CoFA was just like any other young adult book about people who hunt down bad guys that has a couple with a little love spat going on. It wasn't intense, at least not to me. It didn't twist my stomach into knots because it was tragic and desperate and beautiful. It was just...a well-written book, but not spectacular.

For me, anyways.

I do agree that their wasn't enough drama. And I wish there was more Jace!
But I do like Simon just not as a top character.
But I feel Cassie Clare did a great job of stretching out a series when CoG was suppose to be the final book.

message 60: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) It was a good book; it just wasn't the same as the other ones, since the intensity was gone. Like I said, it felt like just another really good, well-written young adult book. But the first three were so completely spectacular, that CoFA felt like a letdown to a lot of people.

I don't even mind Simon being the main character. I like Simon! But the tragedy, the stomach-wrenching makes-you-stay-home-from-school-you're-so-tormented-after-reading-it feeling was gone entirely. :[

I have to hand it to Ms. Clare.
She's a genius. :D
I would still be waiting for COLS. :D

I actually prefer The Mortal Devices over The Infernal Devices. I think TID are hard to get into. It took be until about the middle of both Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince to get into the plot. TMD is defiantly more fast paced and action packed.

However when it comes to the romance angle, I definatly prefer IFD. I love the problematic aspect of loving both Will and Jem for different reasons but having such passion for both of them. Tessie really has her hands tied. Will is my favorite in the two; I actually prefer him to both Jem and also Jace.

Aɴɴᴇ Oɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇᴅɢᴇ ᴏғ ᴍʏ sᴇᴀᴛ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴛᴏ ғᴀʟʟ ɪɴᴛᴏIan Kabra (litch02717) I love the characters in TMI, except Clary. She's too.. annoying.
The love story between Jace and Clary isn't clear(if that's the right word for it), like something important is missing. It's like they just met and Voila! they're both in love. It makes me think that they don't really like each other. I love MagnusxAlec, though.. Yaoi is so interesting than the normal boy-girl relationship.

I really like learning different languages like the time when Jem told Tessa ni hen piao liang and wu bu xiang shi qu ni. It made me want to read more. I mean, yeah, Jace did say something in different language (l'amour che move il sole e l'altre stele) but I like what Jem said better. I also like the part when (view spoiler)

so I choose Infernal Devices..:)

I didn't get into TID until Clockwork Prince, but the book - for me- was way too intense and better than the last MI book. Will is - again t least in my eyes- a lot more passionate than Jace, just because of the way he 's lived for the past years. For me Will hurting and being Giddy was far sexier and more intoxicating than Jace and Clary getting hot and heavy.

I HATED Clockwork Angel.

message 65: by Misty (new)

Misty (mistyou) OMG. I can't choose! I love them both sooo much, but I would have to go with City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare !
Only because Jace is my love as a book character ;) <3 *But I have many of those LOL*

The only reason I'm choosing TMI over TID right now is because I've just finished Clockwork Prince and it really annoyed me of Will and Tessa's romance. I mean, I know she didn't want to break Jem's heart, but still?! Arghh. I hope something happens.. Don't ruin it for me guys . (:
And I like TMI because it's more modern.. but I also like the way the TID characters dress. :)

message 66: by Jennise (new)

Jennise | 11 comments I finished the first three Mortal Instruments last week (record time I have to say) and read the fourth over the weekend. I enjoyed the side story of Simon, but I agree with what someone said earlier. Clare could have totally ended the series after the third book. My heart was content with the conclusion. Then City of Fallen Angels had to ruin that feeling of resolution for me. Why is life so unfair, I screamed! I look forward to the fifth release in May, in the meantime I shall fill the void with The Infernal Devices.

Plus I hear they are casting for a City of Bones movie, and I dread production. I don't want the magic to be ruined for me by Hollywood.

message 67: by Chelsey-Juliet (new)

Chelsey-Juliet (Extremebookworm) | 4 comments I agree with you.. I was happy with the ending of the third book, but the fourth just ruined everything..the plot of the fourth book seemed rushed and I find that it didn't have a point at all
and the casting for city of bones is just awful
In the infernal devices.. clockwork angel was confusing and it felt like a copy of city of bones, but clockwork prince changed all that

message 68: by khadra (new)

khadra Infernal Devices all the way!! Just the way people in the Victorian era spoke and the clothes they wore, and just the way they carried themselves is so different to now! I love it!
Don't get me wrong, I love TMI and Jace but I just love Will!
Only on read the first book though so all can change!! :D

message 69: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessicap324) The Infernal Devices, for sure, written better and the story is more interesting. I like the mystery behind who Tess is and how it was made clear pretty much from the beginning that no one understands what she is. Unlike in many of these types of situations, it's just that the main character doesn't know because no one has told her yet.

I also like Will over Jace and the era

I liked TMI but the next 2 books weren't up to par, they were just too long with too little happening. I'm not necessarily against her deciding to write more books, but that she's going about it all wrong, I think the same story could have been achieved in 1 book since nothing happened in the last 2 until the very end.

That whole thing kind of lowers my opinion of TMI as a whole

message 70: by Squelzy (new)

Squelzy | 1 comments Personally I liked Infernal Devices more - maybe because I read it first, or just because I find the Victorian era so much more... awesome than our own modern day, hehe.
And OMG Will or Jem!! I thought the love triangle in TID was a bit less obvious as to who Tessa is going to end up with... I still don't know. STILL waiting for the third book to come out, AAAHHHHH!!

message 71: by Diana (new)

Diana | 15 comments OH GOD I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE I LOVE MORE. but i think i'll say mortal instruments, because infernal devices is a little love-triangley, and you know that jem is going to die regardless of who tessa picks and it's just going to be really sad. plus i love will to pieces, but it's hard to put jem out of the running. on the other hand, mortal instruments has only one real love interest because you love simon but know he never has a chance with clary anyways. jace and clary were always going to end up together, but you're not forced to choose. and i know that people might say that will is like jace and that's the only reason he's popular. but it isn't really true. will IS a lot like jace, but he's very different in mny ways too.

Ela Thalia wrote: "Oh yeah, I know I love TMI way more. TMI had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't even begin to describe my feelings for it. I actually stayed home from school for two days because I felt so..."

Yeah I totally agree with you, I'll always choose TMI cos it just blew me away when I first read it.
The scene in CoG where (view spoiler)

message 73: by Missawesome (new)

Missawesome | 1 comments I personally like The Infernal Devices more than The Mortal Instruments. Also I like Will better than Jace. You should definitely all three books of The Infernal Devices.

Shay Avery (shaythefuturemrstuckeravery) Infernal Devices

The era was just amazing also im in love with Jem on the weekdays and Will on the weekends!

message 75: by Shay (new)

Shay Avery (shaythefuturemrstuckeravery) Infernal Devices oh course. The Victorian era is amazing, the love triangle is breathe taking, and the final book made my heart stop!!!

message 76: by Misty (new)

Misty (mistyou) Infernal Devices, hands down.
I don't know, maybe it's something about that old Victorian era that I just love. The setting was intriguing and dark, and it just appealed to me. (But I don't like to read horror) I read TMI first, and I really got into it with Jace and Clary and Simon and Isabelle. But I felt like I connected with Tessa and Will and Jem more personally. I felt like Tessa was a strong character and her love of books appealed to me as well as Will and his personality and his love of books also. I also liked Jem cause I'm Chinese, and he's Chinese, and the fact that I could understand the Chinese pinyin that Cassandra Clare put it made it so much more exciting. But I think I love TID mainly because of Will. He was such an interesting and mysterious character who wouldn't let anyone close because he was afraid they'd die. My heart broke for him, you know? And Clockwork Princess just made me have so many feels. Agh. I loved TID.

message 77: by Misty (new)

Misty (mistyou) Wow haha. I just read my comment from a year ago when I said I liked TMI more because of its modern feel and because of Jace. Hahaha. Well, clearly my feelings have changed for the books, but I do like them both. :)

message 78: by Ninsch_ (new)

Ninsch_ (nindizzle) | 2 comments I may love both with all of my heart, but if I had to choose I'd always go for the Infernal Devices! I love TMI but TID has Will and nothing could ever beat my love for Will!!

message 79: by Shay (new)

Shay Avery (shaythefuturemrstuckeravery) Hands down infernal devices it's just the best and Will is amazing and helps make the books
