He is a legendary British king from I think around the 10th century, although he is based on a real person.
King Arthur legends were based on an old general from Wales from way back when, like Denise said. While he wasn't a king, there's a landmark for him, where he died in battle, and he was evidently much loved by his soldiers, and they referred to him as a legend and a near-king on that tombstone, if I'm correct.I'm shocked you've never heard of him! Arthurian mythology is like...the BEST! :D
If I had a copy of Woman in Black, I definitely would! Maybe I'll be able to find one somewhere for cheap. (:
I have a long long list of to read books and would love to do a buddy read with someone. Almost all of my to reads are dusty ones so if anyone interested let me know plz

We have LOTS of books in common (84% to be exact:) lol! If you click on my name and click "compare our books" you can see what we both have on our TBR lists, and if you wanna pick one, I'd be happy to read along with you sometime this summer! Just let me know what:) I'm not sure that it would be on my dusty challenge, but I'm happy to throw in a couple extra when I can!
Anyone willing to do a buddy read for The Book Thief or The Angel Experiment? Unfortunately, due to school, I'd have to put it off until summer.
Sorry but I couldn't log in Goodreads for quite a long time.I have read Skulggery Pleasant book 1, 3, 4, 6
I'm going to start reading book 2.
Anyone interested. They're awesome books. Check them out!

Call me ms. know-nothing but what's Poe, anyone?!
Edgar Allan Poe is an American Gothic writer. Mostly short stories and poems. Some notable titles are The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit And The Pendulum...and TONS more. Edgar Allan Poe
Speaking of Poe, I saw The Raven last night, the new thriller about Poe. It was AMAZING, except for a few life details they got wrong. But ahhhhhhh, I recognized all the murders in the movie! <3
So since I'm new on this Poe and it sounds interesting which is why I want to start reading it, where should I start?

@Mortalcoil_99:
I think you should choose a sampling of several of Poe's works. If you find you are intrigued by say,The Raven, you will surely want more.
There are complete anthologies and smaller groupings bound in individual collections. They are easy to find.

That's on my list too. June would be perfect as I have a vacation scheduled then :D

I'll also read the Book Theif! (:

I can't believe you hadn't heard of Poe! A couple years ago, my best friend bought me a necklace with one side showing a raven and the other side with a portrait of Poe himself. In fact, I'm wearing it now!
To get started, I'd suggest a couple poems, like The Raven, Annabel Lee, etc. As for short stories, I'd start with "The Tell Tale Heart" or "The Cask of Amontillado". Cask is my favorite of all Poe's stories. (:

Thanks. I am going to read it this summer, which isn't very far away.

I'm starting "Interview with the Vampire"...I'm going to start a discussion thread...and anyone who wants to jump on...please do! :)
Denise, you don't have to participate in every group/buddy read. (: We'll probably do The Book Theif AND Poe at the same time, and you can jump on board with what you'd like! (:
Why don't we first start reading Poe? I starting researching him and i CAN'T wait to read it! Sounds so exciting! Except I am in the middle of exams. 4 more to go!
We had a list up of an order, and I'm about five stories in. There's a discussion up for it, whenever you want to jump in. (:
Would anyone be interested in reading Life of Pi? It looks like it's on a LOT of members to-read lists, and the August theme is animals. I figure I'll start around the 1st.Takers?

I'm game if everyone else is up to it...keep me posted...
Denise wrote: I'm game if everyone else is up to it...keep me posted..."You can tell the people in our group who want to read a book by going to "books" on the group home screen and typing in the name of the book that you want in the search box and clicking ok. Then, when the picture of the book appears the bottom option says "member reviews". That will show everyone in the group who has read, is reading, or wants to read a book. I spent about 20 minutes today and emailed the first 20 people who want to read Life of Pi to see if anyone would be interested. I will probably start tomorrow since it's my day off. I've already created a thread for it.
A bunch of us are doing a buddy read for
(The Red Tent by Anita Diamant) that we're starting around the 1st of September. Feel free to join us! The thread is already started :)

I feel odd cause I finished all my books cause I'm busy with my life, but at the same time, I wanna participatehttp://reddkaiman.blogspot.com/
I'm reading through Jane Austen's works this year so I can finally say I've read them all and not be so embarrassed to have them on my shelves without having read them. Just started Sense and Sensibility, would anyone like to join me?
Ok..so I'm off to a different challenge this year..not sure if free kindle books can be considered dusty..but I'm still hanging here, cause I like it! ;)I'm starting The Host any takers to a buddy read?
@April I've got The Host lying around at home. I could probably start it in the next couple of days. I'm intrigued to see if it's any good.
Stefan wrote: "@April I've got The Host lying around at home. I could probably start it in the next couple of days. I'm intrigued to see if it's any good."Ooo that would be fun! Me too. We watched the Hobbit over Christmas break and saw the preview for the movie The Host...so ...Now I have to read it (well at least before I can watch the flick!:) I'll start a thread, and if you pick it up feel free to comment! :)
Alana, I'm currently reading Sense and Sensibility. I started it in the fall semester, but I got sidetracked by writing a paper on Northanger Abbey. I'd be happy to chat about it with you. I'm also hoping to finish reading Austen's novels this year, and after this I have Persuasion and Mansfield Park.
I'm reading that one, then all the way through her novels by publication order for another group I'm in. Would that be something you're interested in or just this one and a couple of others? I can set up a thread that's just Jane Austen, maybe.
I'm going to be reading Angels Gate for a book challenge next month. It's an ARC that for some reason I just never got to. Anyone else have this and be interested in reading it? Supposed to be a good heist story.
I'd be up for reading Mansfield Park, if you don't mind the fact that I have already read it a bazillion times...
I'm reading & collecting Agatha Christie in order and a great desire is ALWAYS to find someone with whom to compare books! However next is novel #3, "Murder On The Links" and yours is #33.
