Maria it's taken me ages to getting round to reading it too. I did the same as you! It looks really daunting but when i actually started it i found i enjoyed it. Once i was about 50 pages into it it was all good. i think you've just got to go for it and read it!

Jeane & Sara - I love the book!
This is not a typical book that I'd read (my friends were surprised) however I really loved the movie (sobbed my heart out) and I thought I'd try the book. It's actually quite different from the movie. The movie is American-ised but the book is completely Irish (the whole thing takes place in Ireland and Holly herself is Irish and she has a whole big family thing!) so it has a different feel than the movie.

All right! I just finished Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer, the audiobook. It was only 16 CDs (16.5 hours). It's only taken me 5 days. Not half bad, eh? I liked it even better the second time... :)

Ok, I'm moving Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao to book where the main character is African American and adding Death's Half Acre, by Margaret Maron to book I checked out from the library for 5 more points.

I also read Icy Sparks by Gwen Rubio for book where the main character has a handicap. I wanted to really like this book and it started out very interesting. It is about a girl with Tourette Syndrome in the 1950s. However, it became difficult to read because the characters were one dimensional and the conclusion was much too trite for me.
