I find the book very annoying, Nora always playing the dumb part then coming close to death but patch saving her. Nora befriending the wrong people...Ugh, And the dissapointing thing is the first one was good.i agree with you Ally:-) I'll read to see what happens then i'll put down the book and probably never touch it again:/

i could not agree more that is what i thought that silence was supposed to be the last book then she comes and throws another one into the mix

Lets just say I wasn't pleasantly surprised and I don't think I'll be able to sit myself down with the fourth one comes out.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but it's so...so...mediocre. I'll admit, I LOVED the series when it came out. Now, after re-reading it, I'm just like, "Meh". It's a meh book. There isn't enough action to make up for it either.
And you don't want me to get started on Nora.
I want a story that has a girl who can take care of herself.
Those are the best.

Nora annoyed me a bit in Crescendo but not that much
I still enjoy seeing the model who plays Patch ^_^
Drew Doyon. (I think) He's HOTT with a capital H and 2 T's :)

I agree...Patch is the only reason I keep reading

To be fair there is a drastic difference between the way these two archteypes are usually characterised in these novels.
Authors are careful to make the main character (from whose perspective the reader must experience the story) as simple as they can so anyone can reasonably relate to her. Ever notice how they aren't usually opinionated? (or if they are we still don't know their opinions, just that they describe themself as opinionated) It's hard to get someone to like the person that listens to their least favourite music in a day and age where people often decide their friends based on their interests.
Moreover it's difficult to make your story move forward organically. Authors can't always find a way to really properly explain WHY a specific situation had to happen so suddenly the only tool at their disposal is their main character because it's the only person that can tell you what they're thinking.
So when the story bogs down the heroine has to do something stupid (usually) to get it going again. They can't use the love interest because we're not in his head and anything he does without the heroine understanding can be misconstrued as violent or abusive (ohoh wait, that's totally Patch too.) So the love interests get to remain this perfect adonis-like specimin that fully embodies the author's fantasy and lacking in any genuine flaws (aside from a penchant for manipulation)
It's not a phemonenon of the way the readers are judging the characters, but a phenomenon of the traditional character paradigm in YA litterature today. Characters are no longer people, they are victims of litterary manipulation.
