SOLVED. A children's book: characters are siblings, maybe brother/sister; possibly yeti living in a cave; snow [s]

I'm looking for the first book I owned. I read it more than 15 years ago (was probably printed later than the 70's), so I have very little to start with:

1) The cover was maroon or reddish violet.
2) The main characters were siblings, possibly a brother-sister pair.
3) There was a yeti-like monster who lived in a cave (I think).
4) There was snow, so it's winter or maybe Christmas.
5) Not sure if a cookie was involved.

I don't think it was long...maybe 25 pages or fewer?

ETA: Somehow the style of The Phantom Tollbooth comes to mind. But the illustrations are in full color.

Not really...yet somehow the style of The Phantom Tollbooth comes to mind? But the illustrations are in full color.
