LOL - We'll I got my Mod "promotion" - earlier today so I'm not an expert mod by any means. All the credit for this site goes to those that have been at it awhile: JJ, Becky, Leslie, and Jeanne

Hi, my pen name is T. M. Moore and I write science fantasy adventure novels and nonfiction books on related subjects. My current series, Children of The Dragon , is about humanoid alien vampires from the planet Antellus, who were once human but were transformed by a dragon's blood eons ago. I have 7 novels in print on Amazon and other booksellers:
Destiny's Forge
To Taste The Dragon's Blood
NAGRASANTI
Red Dragon
The Queen's Marksman
The Black Witch
VIRUS.
They are also available on Kindle and Mobipocket as ebooks, and I offer them on Adobe PDF (Amazon has opted to drop PDFs altogether). I am currently working on two more books in the series, Written In BLOOD and A Bad Night In SOLEDAD (a sort of vampire western). A tenth book, XARAN is still in outline form.
I was influenced mostly by the works of Fred Saberhagen and Chelsea Q. Yarbro, with a little Anne Rice on the side. But I had already been writing about vampires in high school. I, them I found encouragement to write original adventures featuring living vampires, which were based on another series of stories for a monthly fanzine in the early nineties (1990's!). I had at one time a substantial collection of books by other authors and nonfiction works which helped me to write a credible species.
Of course, now it would be hyperbole to say my favorite series is now my own; but I am biased (blush). I have to be in order to write good books for the readers.

Welcome Andrea, Sophiene (Always good to see a fellow Babbler about) and T.M.Wow TM that's a lot of books to write...congrats. Your publisher certainly has an interesting niche "Science Fantasy". I guess that makes quite a bit of sense since so many people who are into fantasy are also into Sci-fi. We also have an author's promotion area at...

Hi from Tasmania Australia. I'm Christine and I thank JJ for inviting me to this group. I've been a fantasy sci/fi buff since an ankle biter, yet this was not through reading but television and movies. I only started reading books a few years ago, having spent a good part of my life illiterate. Writing my own novels taught me to read and write, but it has been a long journey from illiterate to author. I now spend most nights reading and yes, mainly fantasy Sci/fi. Other genres I read are by request from other authors.I can't say I have a favorite author or book, I take it all as it comes, good, bad or different. My pet hate, when movies based on books are changed. The old saying, it wasn’t as good as the book is warranted in most cases. My daughter is a Harry Potter fan and although she enjoys the movies, she will tell me what they missed out in the book, why it was so important and feels as I do, don’t mess with the story line or their characters.
I make a lousy reviewer, as I think all writing is special in its own right and pat any author on the back for giving it a go and pouring their heart and soul into their creation.
What suits me may not suit another’s taste. At the moment I’m reading Briggen by Ann B Keller, it has been slow going as I’m reading other books at the same time. What I have read so far is great, plenty of characters and description, even a touch of humor. I will fill you in more when I have finished it.
Thanks again JJ for the invite, I hope to get to know you all better.
Hugs and Blessings CJ
P.S Peter’s comment made me laugh - The rest of you out there should speak up and introduce yourselves; stop lurking in the shadows like Gollum under the mountain.
I love Gollum and pictured all these readers, looking like Gollum, edging their way out of the corners of the group. May be some one should tell them - ‘WE DON’T BITE’ and if we do, YOU CAN BITE BACK.
P.SS Warning, I have a weird sense of humor and can find a laugh in anything, no offence meant.
Hello all! My name is Kelsey and I'm from Minnesota, although I'm currently living in California and going to school for Deaf Studies. I've been a complete bookaholic pretty much since I learned how to read. All my life I thought that I hated the fantasy genre. No idea why. When I was 10, I started reading Harry Potter and LOVED it, but that must have been a fluke, right? Then I read LOTR and loved it, but I really didn't get into fantasy until about a year ago when I read The Name of the Wind, which completely and utterly converted me. Now I'm taking recommendations from anyone and everyone and reading as much great fantasy as I can get my hands on! (Which isn't too difficult, because I work at Barnes & Noble). Not too good for my pocketbook. Nice to meet you all!
Hi everyone. My name is Chris and I'm a fantasy book addict. I've tried other genres and enjoy them to a degree, but it's always fantasy that I come back to. Reading The Lord of the Rings in grade school is likely what started it all, though I was reading children fantasy stuff before that. From there it was a trip thru The Sword of Shannara and so on. Kelsey, this is a great time to get into fantasy reading. The genre is booming with both quantity of books and the quality of the writing and storytelling. I could give you lots of recommendations, as I'm sure everyone on here could, but this isn't the string for that. Besides, there are so many. Visit my profile or message me and I can give you some ideas.
I've only been on GR for a few days, and I'm loving it. Thanks to Maria V. Snyder for the recommendation. I've also enjoyed this Fantasy Book Club since I joined yesterday. I see some great reading ahead for all of us...
Welcome Chris, Kelsey, and A.L. I agree Chris this is agreat time to be reading fantasy...lots of new voices coming on the scene it's great to see. So much more choice then when I started reading in the bad old days when all ther was ... was Tolkien and CS Lewis - not that I don't love them both - but once read --- you thirst for more!
'Ello! My name is Trey, and I'm a parent of one from Alaska, though I've lived practically all my life here in the Middle of Nowhere, Montana. Fantasy books are practically all that I read because my mind finds it difficult to wrap around things that are too mundane.
I work customer service at a grocery store (whoopie!) so I usually seem quite pleasant, but that doesn't mean that I'm not stabbing you with daggers in the corner of my mind.
Favorite Authors are the ever unpopular Piers Anthony, the far more popular Terry Pratchett, and the less heard of Eric Van Lustbader.
I also have intense ninja skills, but I wont show you them because the awesomeness might cause your mind to asplode.
Hey everyone,I am new to GoodReads, but thusfar have found this website very awesome. I am 18 Years old, from Las Vegas (greatest playground on earth) and I have been reading fantasy avidly for the last 6 or 7 years. I began with R.A Salvatore, reading pretty much every book written about Drizzt, and once I ran out of books, I expanded. I love R.A. Salvatore, but his books started becoming a bit too "cookie-cutter" for me. Currently, my favorites are Patrick Rothfuss, Glen Cook, George R.R. Martin, Brandon Sanderson, Terry Pratchett, Piers Anthony, J.R.R Tolkien, Terry Goodkind and many many more.
Happy to have found this group!
Hi all!My name is Melyssa. I'm a SAHM of three and live in Utah :D I just joined GoodReads a few days ago, but I'm liking it alot more than Shelfari.
I guess my first fantasy set was Harry Potter and I absolutely love them. I got into them in 2006 and really read nothing else because I kept reading them over and over. I really hope JKR doesn't give up writing and she gives us something new to read.
I joined this group in search of some new Fantasy book suggestions to read. I've already put Mistborn and Griffin's Daughter on my to-read list, and am getting ready to start some CS Lewis. And I think I'll try the February book choice too.
I look forward to knowing you all better and having many a great discussions! :D
Hi, I'm Alaine and live in Australia. I have 4 children, the oldest is 23 and loves reading like me. The youngest is just 10 so I still get to read to him. For boys you can't go past fantasy. Actually I've read fantasy novels to all of my children. I read a few fantasy novels in the late 80's early 90's but must say I've only just gone back to the genre late in 08. I have many on my TBR pile and joined this group to get lots more ideas.Last year I read Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters Trilogy and loved it, also just finished Poison Study by Maria Snyder and enjoyed that.
I also look forward to the discussions and the monthly read.
Here's a BIG group hug and welcome to all you new members!! We are getting so many every day, it's making my head spin!! Here that whirring noise? That's my head--spinning!!
Hello Everyone. I was invited to join the group by Robin. I don't think I'm super well-read in fantasy, but really want to get more into it, so this group seems like a great way to find some good suggestions. Fantasy authors I've read lately include Terry Brooks, Neil Gaiman (if he counts as fantasy), and Patrick Rothfuss. I'm also just about to start reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin for another group.
Hello Kim...What group is reading "A game of Trones"? I just picked it up and so I'm going to start reading it soon. And welcome to the group!
Robin wrote: "Hello Kim...What group is reading "A game of Trones"? I just picked it up and so I'm going to start reading it soon. And welcome to the group!"
Robin, I'm just reading it for a local book club. It'll probably take me awhile to finish (I'm not sure our group can get through it in a month), but let me know what you think when you read it.
A game of Trones ! Sounds like a interesting book LOL. I know it is a mis-spelling but it made it laugh and think of the movie 'Tron'.
Welcome to the group, Kim. You're starting out with some great choices there for fantasy. I'm reading Terry Brooks now, in fact. A Game of Thrones is one of my absolute all-time favorite books. The weekend I got it, I neglected almost everything in life to read it all the way thru. That was the first reading. The second time thru, I showed a little more responsibility.....
Hello, I'm Ashley and I live in Washington. I'm new to the group and just picked up 'the name of the wind' yesterday. I'm looking forward to reading it. I'm also the mother of 2 teenage boys and a teacher/reading specialist at our local elementary school. I love to read and then read some more. I'm hoping to be introduced to new and different authors.
Hello. I'm Heather. I'm in Illinois. I have a bachelor's degree in English, and really love the fantasy genre. I apparently am on a bit of a fantasy kick lately, and currently am engrossed in Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Next will be Inkspell. But, unfortunately, Inkdeath will have to wait until it comes out in paperback. I have no idea when that'll be, but hopefully they won't wait too long! ;-)Anyway, some of my favorite fantasy books include the aforementioned Inkheart. I also really love The Crown Conspiracy and the Harry Potter series. I know there are others, but my 15-month-old is demanding my attention and I must go. Anyway, hello! :-)
Hi! I'm Cindy and from Seattle. I have a bachelor's degree in Communications. I spend my time reading, playing on my wii, and playing around pogo! I also love to collect teddy bears. I have become somewhat of a fantasy nut in the past 2 years, reading anything and everything that I can. Some of my favs include Harry Potter, Shannara series by Terry Brooks, Redwall series, the Goblins series by Jim Hines, R.A. Salvatore, Dragonlance. Wow I know there's more, it's probably easier for me to say the series that I don't like! My guilty non fantasy series is the Teddy Bear mysteries by John Lamb.
Welcome Ashley and wave Cindy and Heather - glad to see other Crown Conspiracy fans in this group - can't wait for the upcoming discussion on the book.
Thanks for the invite, Robin!I'm Elise and I live in Chicago. My favorite new authors are currently Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss.
Hey Elise - two great choices in authors ;-) We just got done reading Mistborn - feel free to go into the threads and comment etc. And Name of the wind is next up.Hello Cameron welcome to you as well.
Welcome, Elise, Heather, Cameron, Ashley, and Cindy....and anyone else that's more of a newbie than I am.....
Hello to all you new members! It's so great to see soooo many folks who love fantasy literature as much as I do!
Hi, I'm Phil. I currently live in Delaware, originally from Wiesbaden Germany. I have a wife a 2 y.o. daughter and one on the way (I'm thinking boy).Anyway, My favorite "newer" authors are Patrick Rothfuss, Jeff Somers, Brent Weeks, and my favorite "classic" authors are Isaac Asimov, and Orson Scott Card.
I'm currently reading Death's Head which seems pretty good so far.
Hello! I'm James, living in Louisiana. Been writing for fourteen years, first published in 2006. I have three books out in the Forgotten Realms series with one in progress for 2010.I'm a big fan of Michael Moorcock, Clive Barker, Tad Williams, and Terry Pratchett (which makes for a great epic-dark-horror-with-a-sense-of-humor mix) ;)
Hi! I'm Willa and I live in south Mississippi, although I'm originally from Arkansas/Texas (Texarkana is in both & I've lived in both equally!)I adore the fantasy genre, so this group looks to be lots of fun for me. My favorite authors are Robin Hobb, Guy Gavriel Kay, Neil Gaiman, China Mieville and Robin McKinley.

Welcome Willa - I'm hearing alot about Robin Hobb so I think I'll start looking into that. I'm reading Gaiman's Good Omens right now and really enjoying it. Welcome to the group.
My name is Joshua Pantalleresco, and I'm a published writer. I'm currently working on my first novel. In the meantime you can read my essay "The Modern Day Perceval" in the book "Secrets of the Dragon Riders" edited by James A. Owen.I love fantasy, and enjoy the works especially of a few authors.
Charles De Lint
George RR Martin
Robin Hobb
Robert Jordan
Christopher Paolini
CS Lewis
James A. Owen
Garth Nix
Ursula LeGuin
CS Friedman
Patrick Rothfuss
Tad Williams
My name is Melissa. I enjoy reading Fantasy novels...when I have time. My favorite authors (currently, and subject to change) are: C.S. Lewis, Patricia C. Wrede (great for Young Adult stories), Tolkien, Mercedes Lackey, Sarah Douglass, Christopher Paolini, Kristen Britain, and so many more I can't remember at the moment.
Hello, my name is Tracy and I'm in Missouri, originally from Indiana. My first reading pleasure was a batch of "Myths/stories from _____" that were on the shelves of my elementary school library. From there, slipping into Fantasy reading was easy, made even easier by my fourth grade teacher's cabinet of fantasy books...that she would loan out freely to her students. I think the first series, at least the first that sticks in my head, was "The Black Cauldron" series of books by Lloyd Alexander. It's still one of my favorite series. Since that time I have devoured books at a fairly rapid pace, definitely too numerous to list here (or, actually, even on my shelves at this time). Some of my favorite authors are Orson Scott Card, David Eddings, Elizabeth Hayden, Anne Bishop, JK Rowling, and Mercedes Lackey. Well, that's to start with...
Can't believe that I forgot to mention that I will read almost anything with vampires or dragons...I really don't care which genre it falls into (hence, I've been reading "paranormal romance" lately). It doesn't matter to me what else is in the novel(well, I haven't found a limit yet), as long as at least one character can a)suck blood or b)roast things by breathing and/or fly. (OK, I don't like the dragons as well if they lack the fire, but it's not enough to keep me from reading the book.) And werewolves are pretty good, too...were-creatures, really, I just really like wolves.

My name is Sophiene, I am dutch but now living on Aruba, one of the dutch antilles off the coast of Venezuela. In my younger (uhmm) years I have read lots of fantasy, but now it's mostly historic fiction. I still like fantasy and read it now and again. I loved the Julian May series and I like Guy Gavriel Kay. Living on an island has its limitations, so it's difficult sometimes to find titles and I am not always willing or able to buy any book I like. Nice to be here....!
