Clare K. R. (clare-dragonfly) | 55 comments I'm pretty sure I read this book in elementary school, so it would have to have been published at least 15 years ago. I'm actually looking for this book for my sister so I may not be able to answer questions about details! (We both read it but I only think it sounds vaguely familiar.)

The protagonist of the story is a modern-day Jewish girl. She goes back in time to the Holocaust where her grandmother is in a concentration camp--except that when she's back in time, she's not herself, but some other girl in the concentration camp. (Not sure if it's someone who would have existed without the time travel.)

At the end the girl (view spoiler)

Thanks for any help you can give!

K. (aoutranc3) | 76 comments I agree, Dawn, it's definitely The Devil's Arithmetic, but I believe she saves her aunt's life, not her grandmother's.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 1396 comments Definitely. Great book!

Nadine | 55 comments Oh was there a movie too? I saw a movie like that and have been looking for it for years as I don't remember the title.

It did? I am surprised because I liked the movie but don't like her much. Maybe she was too convincing in Interview with the vampire. ;-) I still see her cold face and the bodies she hid under her dolls when I look at her now.

PS: Ordered the book today, thanks for aiming my attention to it. :-)

Thanks, Clare. We can then shelve/add this thread to any shelving then too.
