Damn bug has left me gluten intolerant, Allie. Hopefully only temporary.

Or are you expressing shock at my not being a great eater of bread? :D

message 15456: by Allison (new)

Allison | 1704 comments Expressing my shock of course!! That’s inconceivable!!

I may have used that particular word as I was just reading an article about “The Princess Bride” but it works 🤣

But fingers crossed the gluten resistance is only temporary!!

message 15457: by Margaret, Sherlockian Sheila (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments Doctor told me to follow the promptings of my gut. When it's ready for gluten, my microbiome will let me know. Probably by making me crave a sandwich.

What, what, indeed!!! A life without all that beautiful yummy bread. I can't even....

Margaret (margyw) | 3341 comments It's like my body has reset itself.

I used to love milk. I don't want it. Yoghurt and cheese yes, but milk, no.

Don't want coca cola. Don't even want tea. I'm drinking water, lemon & ginger tea, and lemonade at the moment. It's all I want.

Craving vegetables like no-one's business. Lunch today is a homemade vegetable soup with spinach, onions, corn kernels, and sweet potato, thickened with rice. Supper tonight will be a spicy cauliflower soup.

Also starting to want seafood, which I don't usually care much for. Especially wanting scallops and white fish!

Try plain kefir, which I love. Tastes something like a thicker buttermilk but with probiotics. Ginger tea is good for your stomach. Have you tried feta?

I find feta too salty.

Terri | 19576 comments I'll do a bread diet! mmm. yum. All those different breads. Sourdough, foccacia, seeded rye, etc etc etc...
I've always been a craver of flour based things. Cakes, biscuits (cookies), bread, pasta. Love it all.

message 15468: by Allison (last edited Jun 05, 2018 09:24PM) (new)

Allison | 1704 comments Mmmm a nice, fluffy foccacia. Dipped into the sauce of a hearty pasta. Mmmmm nom nom nom.

I do like whole grain breads, but white 'anything' bread is my favourite too.

happy (happyone) | 2782 comments I just love bread - any kind. One of the drawbacks of my diabetes is that it limits my bread intake :D

Oh and get well soonest Margaret

Tamara Agha-Jaffar Sorry to learn about all you're going through, Margaret. Between the food poisoning and blood clots, you've had a pretty rough couple of weeks. Get well soon. Our thoughts are with you.
all best.

Terri | 19576 comments Isn't it a real downer for her? The girl has a lovely holiday in London and then within 24 hours of getting off the plane back at Melbourne she has food poisoning followed by clots in the lungs!!

That is just sheer bad luck.

Terri | 19576 comments Yes, let's go to Simona's so she can cook for us. But as long as she understands that there must be bread. Preferably fluffy focaccia...and for my tastes..hopefully the focaccia is practically drowning in olive oil.

message 15488: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Iciek | 553 comments Hey, I just got asked to follow Sarah Jessica Parker and the books she likes to read here on Goodreads.

Now I know Reese Witherspoon has a book club, but it appears that she did that on her own, and she strikes me as someone who actually does like to read. Sarah Jessica Parker never struck me as much of a book reader (more of a fashionista), and I never liked anything I ever saw her in, so maybe I'm prejudiced, but this little invite seemed a bit contrived.

Anyway, I will not be following her.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar I read about this on another group. It's some sort of spam. A lot of people apparently got the same message. Some decided to complain to goodreads about it.

I am proud to tell you, my fearless leader, that I treated myself to a cooking course about bread (and focaccia,!) at the Last Cucina Italiana school. I am ready to battle!!! 😉
