DD, do you intent to write full time or do you have aspirations for another career besides writing?
Lorraine wrote: "D.d. wrote: "In 'Dombey and Son' the hero's name is Walter, but everyone calls him Wally! I threw me every time I read it!!! "IS this why you got into the habit of shortening everyone's name?"
NO, no, Lol!!!
I've had THAT habit FOREVER!!!
The strange thing is, if it's short I lengthen it!!!
Hi Sabrina here.DD I enjoyed reading about how the tribe supplied themselves with food do you do much research to get the seemingly small things accurately portrayed?
Philip (sarah) wrote: "Which was more difficult to write the futuristic or historical novel?"Ooooooo, hard to say....I think the historical was hardest because there are limits to what your characters can do, there is a set structure that you HAVE to work in.
With Futuristic, you can take liberties with the world your characters live in...the only trouble is you have to keep track of what's going on in your make believe world!!!
Simon (Highwayman) wrote: "I know I shouldn't ask this but how old are you DD, it seems I haven't done my research ...."HeeHee!
I'm 24....I know, I know: From my maturity you thought I was older!!! Lol!!!
Emma (Emzibah) wrote: "Will you ever publish the book your Aunt deemed crazy?"Heehee!
No, it really WAS crazy, Emma!!!
The hero was thrown it to the deep end and felt very disorientated....and I wanted to make the reader feel disorientated too.
Unfortunately I succeeded a little too well and my Aunt said she couldn't make head nor tail of what was going on!!!
'We all have a book in us'At 24 my book was queued behind lots of other projects that could not be mentioned on a family friendly forum. Full marks for determination.

Lol! That could be more to do with your gender than age ;-)

My sister is a Musician, and we write and preform songs together. But I will ALWAYS write, I just love the whole experience (Okay, NOT editing!!!). When I'm writing a book it's a similar to reading one because I'm not sure where each chapter is taking me....and that is very exciting!
What advice do you have for inspiring writer like me? I would like to publish my book one day and I could use some advice. Thankyou:)
Emma wrote: "I have just purchased well done x"Thank you so MUCH Em!!! I really appreciate it!!!
Can't wait to hear what you think! (no pressure, hey??? Lol!!)
S.g. wrote: "Hi Sabrina here.DD I enjoyed reading about how the tribe supplied themselves with food do you do much research to get the seemingly small things accurately portrayed?"If I'm truthful probably not as much I should! But I do try to make things as realistic as possible, I think if it's not realistic, the reader is jolted out of the story by the discordant note and have to re- immerse themselves into the rhythm of the book. And that ruins the story for them.
Mints2000 wrote: "Hello DD are you going to write books for children in the future?"All of my books are suitable for any age, I haven't really thought about taking up children's writing, but it might be something I do in the future.
Right guys, I'm going to spoil, so if you haven't read the book, don't click, and then come back when you've read the book. I am not responsible for spoiling your fun ;)Question to DD: (view spoiler)
Claribel wrote: "What advice do you have for inspiring writer like me? I would like to publish my book one day and I could use some advice. Thankyou:)"I can only give you the best advice I was ever given:
You have to write what you know.....That doesn't necessary mean plot wise (It may surprise you to know I've never been in an apocalypse!!! Lol!) but you have to write about emotions that are real, that you have felt.
That was what I was told and that was what I tried to do.

Thank you so much for the advice, it means a lot. I have always try to write about what I know. :)
D D and All, Sorry I'm so late joining in. It looks as if you've covered a lot of ground. Have you been asked yet if you have another book in the pipeline?
I've followed the chat with interest. I'm so glad that you had such a good turn out DD! I'll say goodnight for now and catch up with the rest of the discussion tomorrow.

Lol, Lori!!!
I'm afraid you might have the same trouble with 'The Promise'!!! That having been said they are much closer for most of the story.
My favorite part of a romance is the little things, you know? The things that with anyone else you wouldn't even notice, but with THIS person it's suddenly this huge event. I think I like it first because its amusing to an outsider looking in, to see their awkwardness. And 2nd because its nice to think that to someone who liked you such a small action on your part could have such a big effect....or maybe this is all a sign that I've read FAR to many romances!!!
Lorraine what you said in your spoiler, I prefer it that way. It's more exciting with the anticipation etc. Just my opinion of course

DD I have to go for now, but thanks for talking to me. I'm so happy for you that everything is turning out the way you wanted. I wish you the best on journey. Take care and I will talk to you later and also know that you have a fan here:)
E A M Harris wrote: "D D and All, Sorry I'm so late joining in. It looks as if you've covered a lot of ground. Have you been asked yet if you have another book in the pipeline?"Hi!
Yes, I have a historical romance 'The Promise' which should be ready by the end of this month, it's the first book in a series called 'The Lady Quill Chronicles' that tells the story of 5 foster brothers and how their lives are changed by a single battle. Each brother, and some of their friends, will have a book dedicated to them, but connected to each other by the after affects of the battle.
I'm also just about to start editing my 4th book, another futuristic/dystopian novel about a world that has split up into three governments. Two of these governments are at war and the third must choose a side....but which is the right side to choose??? The story is mainly about a group of people who are from each of these governments strongholds and their prejudice toward each other.
