Live Event with D.D. Chant - 13th of January 2012
Here Lori!!!Hi everyone!!!
My name is DeeDee and I’m trying to be a writer! I have written four Novels:
The first shall remain nameless!!!
Broken City
The Promise (first book in the Lady Quill Chronicles series) - yet to be uploaded
Fracture - yet to be uploaded
But how rude of me to sit here talking about myself: Let’s talk about what YOU think of me!!!!
I don't know if you've answered this question before, DD, but do you plan your books before you start writing, and if so, to what extent?
Just a reminder for everyone... no spoiling please... if you need to mention something in particular, please use the spoiler code in the first post, thank you ♥

I have a rough Idea of where I want the story to go, but I’m often surprised by where the story takes me and how my original idea morphs.
When I first imagined Jan she was 13, a bit drippy and very naive....and look how she turned out!!!
I am here too. Have never read any of your work DD but plan to so am very interested to see how this goes too :-)
Hi DD Sabrina here, I like your idea of people collecting together in tribes. I found the tribal structure interesting. What made you think of it?
Hi everyone :)DD, how did you get into writing? Have you always been writing, or is it a spark that was created by something special?
Hi DD! I made it after all!
Questions coming at you thick and fast! The main one that I am interested in the answer to is when we will be able to read The Promise? I like a bit of historical romance so am particularly looking forward to that one!

I know, I know.....you’re probably wondering if I was the heroine but, alas, NO!!! The tribal structure came later....it just seemed like the most obvious way that things would be done, that people would turn to the strongest and wisest people to lead them.

I always liked writing, but I was definitely encouraged by my family, they always taken the time to read what I’ve written and suggest ways I could improve. My Aunt used to give me and my sister the first line of a story and then say carry on from there....it always amazed me how different our stories would be even though they started in the same place!

Soon, hopefully before the end of the month!!!

Who/what inspired you for the characters in Broken City? If you had to use actors to make them more "real", who would you chose?

I love that idea. Do you write too Amy?"
NOOOOO!! I tried once... it was bad... i didn't try again!!
Philip (sarah) wrote: "When and why did you decide to be an author D.d. and who was your inspiration?"I don’t know if there was ‘A’ moment. My Aunt suggested I try to write a story because she thought I could....I spent 2 years writing a novel (whisper it ‘The Babel Code’) and when she read it she said it was crazy!!! But then she said she thought the next one would be better, and the next one was Broken City.
As for my inspiration, I dedicated the book to my Granddad, because he gave me tireless encouragement and listened to me droning on and on about my plots for HOURS!!!

Kristine wrote: "Hi D.D.! Sounds like you are a pantser. Do you plot at all?"A panster is someone who writes more by instinct than with a set plot in mind.....is that right Kris????
I do plot, but it's flexible depending on where the characters take me!!!
Sorry, pantser is a term we use in the US for an author that doesn't plot - so yes "flies by the seat of her pants." So, my question to DD is whether she plots out her books (and series) or just writes the story as it comes to her.
