I haven’t recreated anyone, but I have used some characteristics of people I know: Ralph’s ability to excite the children is based on my sister Amy, who is present and now blushing!!!

Kristine Cayne (kristinecayne) | 80 comments Thanks, DD. I'm with you on that. It's good to have a plot because it gives us a direction in which to write, but when/if the characters take over it's good to let them :-)

Thank you so MUCH!!!

I have a picture on the wall that we've had in our house for AGES!!! Whenever I looked at it I reminded me of B/C. I know an artist and asked her if she'd be willing to do a cover, she was and did several mock ups until we settled on that one. So now I have an oil painting on my wall of the cover!!! Freeline did the graphics!

My Mum would say I write ALL DAY...but that's not strictly true!!! I don't write every day, but when I do I tend to write a lot at once.

Not joking, when we were kids she often woke in the middle of the night and started scribbling coz she had suddenly thought of a good plot!!!!

D.D. Chant (DDChant) | 7663 comments Claribel wrote: "DD from where you get your ideas:)"

It started with a dream I had, nothing very long, just some people in a room in a tower block talking about a child who had been kidnaped.

I couldn't get the scene out of my head, I had so many questions:
Why were they there?
Why had the boy been taken?
How would they get him back?

And so I started to write!

It is still hard to get people to read your work,EVERYONE has a story on wattpad and a lot of people do Read 4 Reads (You read there work, they read yours) I don't tent to do them myself because it's a cheat, but that does make it harder.
That having been said, B/C has been read on wattpad by 370ish people.
So yes, give it a try, but expect to have to work for your reads! :-)

They get clearer as the story goes on! I don't like to tell the reader all of the Characters physical attributes AT ONCE!!!
So it gives me more time to build an image in my mind, that is based partly on what they are like as people.

You know the quote about a rose smelling sweeter by any other name (Or something like that! lol!) I find names really matter to me!!!
In 'Dombey and Son' the hero's name is Walter, but everyone calls him Wally! I threw me every time I read it!!!

IS this why you got into the habit of shortening everyone's name?

If its a read for read then USUALLY the comments aren't really REAL, if you know what I mean. But when you get people who really love your story, comment on every chapter, and vote on every chapter....then it's REALLY, REALLY worth it!!!

It just means so much more because a lot don't bother.
