- My copy is titled "Shadow Wife"
I had loved 'saving CeeCee Honeycutt" and had heard lots of positive things about this book. It was interesting in the beginning, but then it turned mushy mushy and sentimental. I shy away from sentimental romance and I lost my sympathy towards the main character within a score of pages, and said goodbye to the book at about 40 pages or so.

But haven't yet abandoned a book. There was 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephan Crane which I stopped midway but picked it up again. And 'Billy Bud, Sailor' by Hermen Melville had me yawning all the way in the first few chapters. And quickly read it to finish it.

I chose

The other book was

just the 2 books yet.hope there aren't anymore.

Am rating it because I have read more than half the book. I got interested in Stockholm syndrome and started this book. Initially it was interesting, but halfway through it just disintegrated into various sexual encounters at different places and times between the handsome kidnapper (or one among the kidnappers) and the hearing and speech impaired victim. The story became repetitive and I had lots of interesting books waiting to be read. So am stopping it here, may take it up sometime later, whenever I feel the need of a respite from intellectually stimulating books. Hopefully the story will improve towards the end.

It was disappointing. I usually like McCollough books , but could not digest the absurd portrayals of Darcy and Bingeley. Was shocked at the meekness of Elizabeth and the cruelty of Darcy, the loss of love between them. The mature and totally changed Mary too was unpalatable. So left the book half read at around 200 pages or so.
