Jeanne | 4 comments Hello! It's so nice to meet everyone here! My forthcoming historical novel, Blood of a Stone, currently has 4.8 stars on Goodreads from advanced reviews, but I would love to have some more reviews from readers. I can provide a .pdf or, if you prefer, the book is available as a download from NetGalley.

A short description:
Set in the first century on the edges of the Roman Empire and the Jesus movement, Blood of a Stone is a sweeping story of murder, betrayal, love, and the search for redemption.

Faced with the brutality of slavery, Demetrios confronts his master and flees by the blood of a stone. Determined to escape his past, he struggles to create a new life and a new identity with his friend and fellow escaped slave, Elazar.

However, freedom has its price. Secrets cannot remain secret forever. A chance for love is lost. Elazar betrays Demetrios to a so-called prophet named Jesus of Nazareth.

Fearing the Roman authorities and Jesus, Demetrios risks everything to silence those who would enslave him again. His quest leads him to startling discoveries and dire choices. Demetrios must answer the question we all ask: Can we ever be free of our past?

C. Cales (scarybob) | 4 comments Across from Boston Common, nestled on a cobblestone mall is a bookstore run by a lovable rare book dealer and his wife, who has a coffee parlor in one corner. The parlor is the morning meeting place for other shop owners on the mall. Their happy life is about to be turned upside-down by a violent South American drug cartel with a new, high tech process for smuggling cocaine.

Charlotte, if you're open to reviewing something a little deeper in romance and historical fiction, I'd offer a free copy of "The Captain's Story". The Amazon synopsis follows. If you're interested send me a note at mariecheryleddings@gmail.com

Doctor Robert Thomas Temple is a man of many parts. Born into poverty and violence, he works his way out of an urban combat zone to build personal prosperity. Finishing university as an engineer and inventor, he goes to war in Vietnam as an Air Force Lieutenant and intelligence analyst. He soon becomes known to grunts in the bush as “one scary dude” for his sniper skills and the speed of his martial arts movements. More than one Viet Cong partisan will have reason to call him “the Tall Assassin” in their own language.

Starting at an early age, Bob becomes a man who loves women – and more than one of them love him. Lessons learned from his first intimate teacher will draw many to his bed, for good or ill. One ex-wife hates him, though her mother would happily give him references. His business partners call him “Colonel” or “Doctor”, but to the women who live with him he is “The Captain”... and they'll be more than happy to sail or serve under him.

Now, another young woman wants to enter the Captain's life. Having fallen for one of his lady lovers, Marie decides that if she's to be with Desiree, then she'd better meet the man that Desiree goes home to and adores. When Desiree and her co-mistress Renate propose to add an 18 year old Library Science major to the Captain's stable of eager mares, he lays down the law: Marie must first research and write his biography – without their help. She needs to know him as a person and a friend in all of his many parts, before playing bedtime games. “Sex with strangers may sound like thrills... but more often than not, it's a lonely business.”

The person that Marie discovers in her research and shared time will become one of her “life teachers”, shaping the person she becomes as an adult, even as she falls in love again. She will learn many things from the Captain and his women – and from others for whom she cares.

Set against a turbulent backdrop of 50 years, The Captain's Story is a journey through war and remembrance, love and loss, and learning the oldest lesson: “The more we love, the more we can love.”

The Captain's Story is intended for mature audiences.

Marie Cheryl | 28 comments Ribeiro, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your synopsis already displays errors of structure, inconsistent tense and comma use. If the books have the same errors, I think you'll need a good proof reader before you re-issue the book.

Not to be harsh. I just call them as I see them.

MCE

Hugh Thomson | 14 comments I have digital copies of my new novel for readers who would like to review it. Local Australian reviewers can request a hard copy.

I am a Scottish/Australian writer; the book was published in January this year. It is called "A Dangerous Journey Home". The novel is a result of some years of researching the involvement of the shadow CIA in the drug trade in South East Asia and the collapse of their Nugan Hand Bank in Australia. It is not a novel about the CIA; others have written about that in more depth than I could manage. Rather, it is a book about an ordinary Australian who finds himself seconded to a SOG Unit ( Study and Observation Unit) a part of the infamous Phoenix program.
He eventually becomes involved in the drug trade in Vietnam and across Asia. He escapes the army and the journey home via Burma, Thailand and Northern Ireland transforms him.

Blurb from book: Robbie, a rather naïve University student is arrested at a Moratorium march in Melbourne. He becomes involved with an older man, Hamish, and a mysterious girl, Billy. Robbie becomes infatuated with Billy, but he gradually begins to suspect that there is some kind of cat and mouse game going on. Who is the cat and who are the mice? Is he being used? If so, why? The truth is hard to find.
Hamish places his trust in Robbie and gradually the truth is reveals, or is it just a version of the truth?
Is Billy using Robbie? Gradually the story of Hamish’s dangerous journey from Australia to Vietnam, Laos, Japan, Hong Kong, Burma, Thailand and to Ireland is revealed. However, the danger has followed his friend Hamish, home and he needs help. Robbie becomes involved and the situation becomes explosive and Robbie is in the mix.
You can download the first three chapters from my website www.hugh-thomson.com. You might also like to read my first review there.
If you are interested in reviewing my novel you can contact me through my website or at thommoh@tpg.com.au.

J.A. George (jgeorgie_) | 3 comments Hello everyone!

I am the author of Gifted, a contemporary YA fantasy novel and I wanted to know if whether any of you would like to review my novel. I am giving away free e-copies in exchange for honest reviews! You can reach me through goodreads or email me: jessgeorge1994@gmail.com. I've put a synopsis of my novel down below!

Synopsis:

There is no chosen one in this story.
She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and happened to make a decision that altered her future forever. It happens to all of us every day.

Avery Gray is a size twelve university student with a penchant for dry humour, and she’s as normal as they come. Up until now, the biggest choice she’s had to make was glasses or contacts? At the moment, it’s stay and save, or leave and be saved.

Allow me to explain. One rainy afternoon, Avery had to make a choice: go through the alleyway or around it. Two possible options. One would have had her future continue on as planned, the other would ensure that her future never remained the same again. She unknowingly went with the latter.

But change is not always bad. Avery meets Theodore-James Connors, an enigmatic young man who takes her to Hayven, a city separated from the rest of the world, where only gifters – ordinary people with extra-ordinary gifts – can go. She soon finds herself in a close-knit group of friends she’d never have imagined herself in; friends who are diverse in every possible way, from their ethnic backgrounds, to their personalities, from their gifts, to their life stories. Friends who make her laugh, who make her cry, who make her think and who make her…her.

However, change is not always good. The beautiful, golden city of Hayven has its dark side - Cliders. Gifters turned rogue, aka, Cliders are determined to aid fallen Clider, Madrina, return to rule Hayven. They will stop at nothing to make that happen, including harming those Ava has grown to love. Again, Ava is faced with a choice: spend her days finding a way to inhibit Madrina’s return, or walk away. After all, she isn’t the chosen one. Yet, there exists a third option - rig the future itself and make it work for her.

Preeti Gupta | 4 comments Hello fellow Agnostics -
I have written a book on Spiritual topics such as Karma, Detachment, Meditation, Astrology, Soul Energy, Reincarnation, and Vegetarianism. I have a day job as a Financial Planner, so this book was not written for profit of any kind. I simply felt that there were too many theist or atheist books that did not ask the same questions that I had, and I wanted to explore certain topics from an unbiased, objective point of view.

The book is called "I'll Put 3 Chips on God - just in case there is one".

If anyone is interested in obtaining the entire ebook in EPub, Mobi, or PDF format, you are most welcome to download it at www.3ChipsOnGod.com/ebook. If you also have time, an honest review on Amazon or Goodreads would be most appreciated!

The print copy is available at cost on Amazon as well, it's priced as low as possible, around $7 usually, depending on Amazon's mood for the day!

If you have trouble downloading the ebook, please feel free to write me at preeti@3ChipsOnGod.com and I will email you a copy instead.

Thank you for reading, and God Bless you for your support! (if there is one :)

Warm regards,
