Hello
I have followed as many as twitter will let me for now.
I agree with those above, reading a lot of publicity is not why I use twitter either. I tend to tweet something about my book a couple of times a week. My blog posts tweet automatically. I also RT a lot of friends that I schedule throughout the day so those are automatic.
I have mixed feelings about that. I like to support my friends but I want to use twitter to socialise. It seems to me that a lot of people automate tweets. Sometimes I tweet - Is anyone there? - just to see if anyone responds. If no one is there then who is reading the tweets? And more to the point why should I read them if no one is there to read mine?
On the other hand I am in Europe. A lot of the people I connect with are in the USA or other parts of the world. They auto / schedule tweet to me so that I can read them when I am awake and visa versa.
On using hash tags. I often look at hash tags to find things of interest and assumed that others did too. If I am posting the next event at my Jazz club I might use 'music' 'jazz' and 'charent'e tags. If I want to see what is going on those are the ones I would use. For my book I would use 'books' 'memoir' 'Ireland' 'Walking' - is that too many?
I would be interested to know what hashtags people look at and which you find off putting. Which do you use on your posts and which do you look at when you want something?

Hi! I'm on Twitter: Margaret Lynette Sharp is my name. I generally follow for follow, tweet about interesting newspaper articles, blog posts (many are my own), books by others (and mine, too). I'm self-published, and nearly ready to try again with book #7.
Nice list!I am also on Facebook and Twitter. I will retweet things occasionally, post thoughts, updates on my book, and soon I will be posting things from my second novel.

P.S. Think I've got everyone up to this point...
Hi everyone. My Twitter handle is @cheerupyourwife. I prefer to tweet/re-tweet thoughts that are thought-provoking/motivational/inspirational rather than only pitch tweets for my book. I get much more feedback and gratification. I may have a simplistic outlook but I believe that if I say something that someone views as worthwhile, he/she may be more likely to find out what else I might have to say via my books. I'll be going through the posts and following as many as I can. Good night all.Aleathea Dupree

Ken, as a web designer and developer, your approach is an example to many. However, what you've discovered — inevitably — is that the whole thing is a lot of hard work, not just to implement, but to manage and maintain.
