What happens to your books?

A girl can dream, right?
I like to keep my favourite books, and then sell or donate the ones that I can part with.
i love books, and i can reread my favorite books over n over again, n never get tired! so i like to keep them ^-^ But, like Alana said, lacking of space is the trouble. soo now i download e-books! (=

I just saw this post and I think its awesome!
I usually save the books that I love which are most of them. The books that I read and am not a fan of I try to give them away some kind of way. I will have to try out those bookswapping sites so I can get rid of some books I dont know what to do with.

Ebooks are a different matter... I love that Amazon houses them for me in the off chance I might want them again :D
I don't have a E-reader of any type and I normally buy all the books I read. I keep all of my books, but I have two or three friends that borrow my books all the time. I only have one book case at the moment an all the books are double rowed and then I have stacks randomly throughout my bedroom, where ever there is an open space where my two toddlers can't get a hold of them.
I have a real addiction to buying books. Even if I don't like the book, if it is part of a series, I will buy the rest of them and read them so I can have a complete set. I always use the excuse that one day my 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter might want to read them. -lol-

My friend and I try to periodically mail books to each other since we live in different states now and cannot read together :-(

Usually, I keep them. I'm a bookhoarder, and I just can't help it. The one's I've read and can't bear to part with end up on a certain shelf, which is in the attic due to lack of room. A few are in my room (the Harry Potter Shrine, my manga, Hunger Games).

Good books are my dearest friends, it is difficult to get rid of them

I give them away to charity shops or friends. Now that I have a Kindle I don't even bother with normal books at all.
I am not really much of a collector to be honest. Over the years I have thrown out vinyls, cassettes, VHS tapes, DVDs and computer games.
I just got a kindle for my birthday and have been doing a Massive cleanout of my physical copies. I have found homes for 50+ already but have tons to go. I would love to have a swap thread if anyone is interested??

I have a kindle now too so that's great for storage space.

A swap thread it a great idea! Let us work out a few basic ground rules, and we'll make a thread. Any suggestions for it?

Sheri- I would say listing title, condition, and where you are willing to ship to (us only or international for example) for starters :)

I literally sold or donated every book I owned when I got my Kindle!
Me? Well, I buy a lot and then fill up the bookshelves. And then when they're all full, I ask my dad for new bookshelves. :> teehee.

Some day...

I hoard my books. Seriously, it's a problem. I've just started using Kindle though, so I might be moving away from that. I like the idea of paperbackswap though, so I might use that!

I only keep my favorites and donate or swap the rest (I even started a book swap at work for our patients.) Despite the donations, I still have a few thousand books.
I am fortunate that my fiance has set up a room for me dedicated entirely to my books so I do have a home library.
I'm interested in the book swap also :-)

i have a kindle, so i should probally start buying my books on there, but having a book on the kindle just dosen't comapre to owning the real thing, it dosent have the smell, or weight.

Paperback Swap is great because when you send out a book that has been requested from you, you pay the shipping (anywhere from $2-$4 depending on the weight of the book), and then when you request a book from someone else, it's free for you! They also have quality guarantees.
This is a great way to get new books off of your TBR list, and the site is easy to use!
