I'm about 3 chapters in. I'm a native northern Cali girl, so the setting already has me.

The idea of putting paranormal and post-apocalyptic together is kind of interesting. I'm sure there's many books out there like this, but I can't say that I've read any? Maybe I have at one point...my mind just can't seem to bring any to mind.

It's been quick so far. I got to the halfway point in practically no time. I like that something has been happening non-stop. There's been no downtime.

So I had a bad thought about the next book. I really hope that Penryn (view spoiler)[is not part angel or nephilim. It was stressed more than once that humans should not be able to wield that sword. Her mom also has irrational fears, so maybe she got it on with an angel or demon. I guess it would make for an interesting story, but for once, I'd like the normal person to stay normal and not find out that they have something special about them. (hide spoiler)]

I think it would bother me too, if she (view spoiler)[was Nephilim. Actually, I was sort of bummed that they even talked about nephilim at all. I think that seems to be a thread in all angel books. I think the sword just chose her because of what Raffe said, that he needed help. At least I hope (hide spoiler)].

I dont (view spoiler)[ that she would become nephilim they say more then once they are deformed and act kind of like the kids the start to mutilate, I seriously hope they dont go down that road tho I'm a little sick of Nephilim popping up in every book (hide spoiler)]

I feel like I need to re-read this now, you guys have got me all excited about it. This is one of those stories I just want more from every character. I'm so curious about Penryn's mom and the voices. Do you remember her saying she had some task to complete or something similar? Was that ever explained? Very creepy. I wouldn't be surprised if she ended up having to (view spoiler)[kill Paige (hide spoiler)]. UNLESS (view spoiler)[there's something in her bloodline that would prevent her from completely losing it, same as Penryn. (hide spoiler)]

This is one of my favorite books of 2011, I read it in a day because I could not put the book down. It's non stop action. I'm itching to get my hands on the next book, I just have to find out whats going to happened to.

It was a great book, very different from what I expected. It gave you just enough questions to keep you salivating and a lot of action that had me flying through the book. It was one of those books where I kept saying, one more chapter, one more chapter.

I definitely think the father will end up showing up. I hope he's not special, but I definitely think he'll eventually be part of the story.

Started my re-read today. I love the way the author introduces some of the backstory with Penryn's Mom. Chapter 7 or 8 I forget (view spoiler)[ When Raffe and Penryn are fighting in the office and she wants in but then is calmed by the fact Penryn says she is fighting her own personal demon. I'm like WTF that is calming. (hide spoiler)] I find her moms character so interesting.

I like how the book starts off right away with something happening. There's no better way to get me pulled in than to throw action at me right off the bat.

I'm going to be trying to see if I pick up on anything different this time around, but it's been a while since reading the first time, so I might be picking up things I forgot instead.

I really enjoy the short succinct chapters and I was gripped immediately with the opening pages.

Angelfall is up there for books I've recommended the most, simply because I think it will appeal to a broad range of reader types.

This is my first read so I'm really interested to see what's going on with this mother. I'm sure it has to be more than what they say it is.

Penryn's mom (view spoiler)[ she's just her own brand of crazy but it fascinates me that Penryn took all those self defense classes because it seems like she was scared of her mother but I think her mother wanted Penryn to be able to protect herself. Its weird but I am finding some turns of phrases slightly awkward and cliched. I read this the first time when I haven't read much YA and fantasy so its like reading something new now.

I'm 40% and I still haven't really figured Raffe out. I can't decide if he likes Penryn, is using her or is just amused with her. Normally by now the guy is pretty protective but he's so unpredictable. Like when (view spoiler)[Penryn gets in the fight with Boden. She expects him to jump in but he stays in the crowd betting on it. (hide spoiler)]
Weirdly enough, I'm happy he's a bit of a mystery. I have a feeling he's going to be one of my favorite book guys.

Which is how I felt about Barrons in the early Fever books. I actually like it so much I probably intentionally forgot the bit where (view spoiler)[Raffe hugs and comforts Penryn when she was having that bad dream (hide spoiler)]. I like how their relationship was subtle and flirty rather than in your face romance.

I'm at 51% so Penryn can (view spoiler)[ Lift Raffe's sword and she dreams of the flying scorpions... This was after the encounter with the flesh eating babies (are they the nephilim here? I've forgotten and haven't reached the explanation yet) (hide spoiler)] I don't think she saw them and i'm pretty sure they (view spoiler)[don't click until you've finished(view spoiler)[don't get introduced until late in the book (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]
