Angela Holland (bookaunt) Hello Andrea. My husband and I have always wanted to visit Germany. That is a fun way for you to learn English

Denise (drbetteridge) Hi, I'm Denise! I'd never read, or even heard the term "cozy mysteries" until a few weeks ago. I was browsing on Kindle and the title of a book just made me laugh. I'm now on the third Agatha Raisin book! I love her, and if it is indicative of the genre, I'm going to enjoy finding new things. This looks like a really fun group.

DonnaCarol | 128 comments Hello Denise, and welcome aboard. I read cozies before I had ever heard the term. So, I was delighted to find that there is a name for my favorite reads,(COZIES) but also a large following. We are in good company. So many good authors of cozies that offer something for just about everbody. Enjoy

message 262: by Hil (new)

Hil (hiku1101) Hi,

My name is Hilary and I live in the Buffalo, NY, area. I LOVE reading, but have found myself neglecting it as the demands of being a teacher, wife, and mother have taken OVER my life! I can't believe how excited I now get when I finish reading a book; before kids, it was no trouble for me to finish two to three (or more!) in a week! I'm a cozy "newbie" and I'm hoping all of your great suggestions will keep me hooked!

message 269: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelinkc) Hi, my name is Kelly and I live in Missouri. I was introduced to cozies by my mother-in-law seven years ago and have been addicted ever since. My favorite series right now are the Hannah Swenson Mysteries by Joanne Fluke, the Knitting Mystery series by Maggie Sefton, and the White House Chef Mysteries by Julie Hyzy.

I've already found several new series I'd like to try just browsing this group - looking forward to expanding my horizons with all the great suggestions!

Gomergirl | 3 comments Hi! I am peggy and I am near Portland Oregon. I love to read and my favorite authors are MC Beaton, Alexander McCall Smith and Orson Scott Card. There are others but these are the top 3. I like to read series in order but I hate the feeling when I am done and do not know where to go next. That's why I joined this group and website.
Thanks for having me.

Hi Monica - welcome to the group. Where in No Va do you live? I lived in Annandale, Arlandria, Seven Corners, Pimmit Hills, Falls Church (city), Vienna, and Merrifield over a period of over 15 years.

Monica (monicajmaxey) | 2 comments I am from Haymarket and recently moved to Front Royal. The area out this way is not so 'congested' with people. I'm actually just down the street from Skyline Drive. Very pretty area here.

That is a beautiful area. I lived in Winchester for 3 years, and during that time I was a floater teller and Front Royal was part of my area.

message 278: by Dee (new)

Dee (deelr) | 1 comments Hello there! I'm Dee living in Wisconsin but from Chicago. After 40 yrs I still say that! Love this lil town of mine but I retained a lot of my Chicago attitude! LOL! Some say its cuz I'm also a red headed Italian. Hmmm do you think that's a compliment? LOL! I read all the "cozies" I can get my hands on! But I can jump into other genres w/ a recommendation. I am on a Kindle fire for the most part but can "borrow " the computer from Cableguy (hubby) on occasion. Raising our granddaughter, Peanut, since birth and am now "Granny " to her whole class! I love it! Reminds me of when I was everyones "Momma" !

Tina | 14 comments Hello,
My name is Tina. I started reading cozy mysteries about a year ago and I haven't stopped since. I love them. I'm a big fan of the culinary mysteries and my very favorite series is Lorna Barrett's Booktown Series.
I'm looking to add friends to goodreads that also enjoy cozy mysteries. I'm interested in finding new cozies out there to read. So feel free to add me if you also enjoy cozies.

Thanks

Hi, I'm Barb and I'm a Goodreads junkie :) I'm from south-central Pennsylvania, and I've been reading mysteries all my life, probably because it's all Mom had in the house when I was a kid LOL I'll read (almost) anything, but mysteries are my first love, and cozies are my 'comfort reads.'

Welcome to the group Barb and Rebecca! Hope you'll find some new friends and books here.

Hey Barb, nice to see you here. I know what you mean - I remember waiting for my mom's issues of Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine to arrive.

Hi Rebecca. What part of Virginia are you from?

message 293: by Jon (new)

Jon Johnson (jonojohnson) | 2 comments Hi. I'm Jon in San Jose, CA. I am recently retired and I like reading these mysteries. I am currently reading a couple, but I think I will read the two books selected for this September (2012), I just won't start right away.

I like the whodunit variety where the clues are given to the reader so the reader can play along and try to guess the killer.

message 294: by LynnB (new)

LynnB Hi Jon and everyone else who has joined recently. Glad you can join us. Jon, like you I like the who-dun-its - that's why Agatha Christie is an all time favorite of mine.

I lived in Miami for awhile, still have lots of friends there. I often wonder why there aren't more mysteries written where the location is the gulf coast line.
