Vaseem Khan (vaseemkhan) | 8 comments Hello, my name is Vaseem. I am an author and avid cosy crime reader (the No 1 Ladies Detective agency series is my favourite.) As an author I write a light-hearted crime series set in India and featuring a baby elephant. The first book in my series The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra is a Times Saturday bestseller, Waterstones Book Club selection and Amazon Best Debut pick. I've posted further details in the Authors section for anyone interested. From this group I'd love recommendations for other cosy crime series that I haven't yet discovered!

Vaseem, London

Welcome Beth, Laurel and Vaseem

Beth - Have you read Working Stiff by Annelise Ryan? I think the author is a nurse.

Laurel - I'm a fan of Cleo Coyle's Coffeehouse series too. The cozy mystery site you mention is a favorite in this group.

You will all find a lot of cozies mentioned on this site. Check out the favorite series discussion in the Cozy Q&A folder.

Hi Laurel and Vaseem. Welcome to the group! It's nice to have you joining us.

message 1255: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 2 comments Hi all! I'm Colleen, and I'm pretty new to the mystery genre. Even more new to cozy mysteries. I'm in California, and I absolutely love reading, drawing, and playing music. I've already got a book on hold from the Meg Langslow series, and I'm looking forward to getting into it, probably because I've read so many serious books, but I'm interested in actually laughing out loud while reading. Such a foreign concept, but incredibly intriguing.

Question, though: Has anyone read Mrs. Pollifax? Would those books count as cozy mysteries?

message 1256: by Laura (new)

Laura Hello everyone!

My name is Laura and I was so excited to find this group. I used to read a lot of cozy mysteries (especially the craft/cooking ones) and I am wanting to get back into the genre. It looks like I found the perfect group for that. I'm looking forward to exploring all the fun and getting to know everyone!

Welcome to CMC Laura. You will find a lot of cozies here. Our bookshelf has cozies by category. That's a good place to start exploring cozies with a craft or cooking theme.

Welcome Colleen. I've read all the Mrs. Pollifax books and I consider then to be cozies.

Welcome Laura and Lesley! There are so many fun types of cozy mystery. I love the animal related ones - especially dogs :)

Welcome Colleen - Somehow I missed your post!
I love the Meg Langslow series. Just finished Lord of the Wings which is set during Halloween. Her books are fun to read with characters I'd like to meet though I wouldn't want all those people and animals living in my house.

Amy Yingling (amyyingling) | 3 comments Hello my name is Amy! I live in the suburbs of a small town in Pennsylvania. I love mysteries and just recently hopped on the cozy mystery train and I'm really enjoying what I've read so far! I look forward to participating in this group because 2 chronic illnesses keep me house bound a lot so groups are my socialization! I've already started one of the books for November and am almost done. Thanks for having such a great group for us cozy lovers to go to.

Julia Van Enck | 2 comments Hello everyone, i am Julia, 32 years old and from Assen in The Netherlands. Next to my biggest passion Motocross I love to read.I don't have much patience to read a book but when i'm reading a CM i can read for hours! I love stories that are set in little villages in England like M.C.Beaton books or Agatha Christie. I like to travel to the U.K. as often as possible to buy new CM books because most of the time there are no Dutch translated books available and even though i do read most of them on my Kobo i like actual books better. On my last trip I bought some 'A Bakeshop Mystery' by Ellie Alexander books....love it!

Perfect, thanks! My mom read at least a few of them over a decade ago, but they've always been in the back of my mind's TBR list. I'll have to see if she still has any of them. :)

Welcome to the group Diane and Misty. Have fun exploring the site.

Everyone is new at some point, Diane. You'll soon find our feet. There's a folder with tech help that might answer some of your questions.

Misty - The group has two featured reads each month. The books are posted on the main page and discussed in the featured reads folder. Feel free to comment on any of them. We also host a serial reader challenge each month where members pick series for each other.
