What is the Pick-It-For-Me Challenge?

The Pick-It-For-Me Challenge (PIFM) is a reading challenge where each participant gives and receives book recommendations based on a given set of rules. The assignment method and book selection rules change each month so it’s always new and different. Please make sure you read this information before you sign up.

After the signup period expires on December 29th, I'll put your names along the extra info I requested into the super secret PIFM randomizer and select someone for you to choose for. The person for whom you are to 'pick' will be posted at the same time as the rules for the month.

While you are doing your picks, someone else is picking for you. Once you receive your picks, you select a book off the list and get reading. To complete the challenge, you only have to read 1 (one) book, but many of us end up reading more because we just can't resist a list of books to read.

You need to either HAVE YOUR PROFILE SET TO PUBLIC (preferable), or make the person who will be giving you recommendations your friend. On top of that, I strongly recommend keeping your bookshelves updated; you may otherwise end up with a recommendation for a book that you have already read.

IMPORTANT DATES:
December 29th(10 am US EST): Sign up closes, matchups are made, picking rules are posted
January 3nd (10 am US EST): Deadline for recommendations, remixes are assigned
January 31st: Deadline for reading your pick and giving some feedback

Spice It Up, Baby - The PIFM Pairings!!!

The Chinese Zodiac tells that the compatibility of signs with the other signs. Each Sign will be most compatible with 2 other signs. For the pairing, the 12 signs will be divided into 4 groups based on compatibility... with a spice ;) Otherwise life will be bland

- Please pick for the person below you within the same group. The last person will pick for the first person in the group. For example, in Group A, Erin B will pick for Ana and so on while K. Ling picks for Erin B.
- Please check the name/links by clicking on them as there are people with same names (Especially Megan, Cathy). I've tried to indicate using their Last name or country.
- If your profile is private either set it to public or add the person picking for you as your friend.

PIFM RULES

Welcome the New Year

1. First Day: (Help them welcome the New Year with a challenge!) Challenge your pickee by recommending a book that is out of their comfort zone.
2. Second Day: (Daughters go back to their birth homes) Choose a book from their favorite authors/genre or a book from one of their well-rated on-going series
3. Third Day: (People will stay at home today) Pick a long book from their TBR that will occupy them on this day.

During the New Year

4. Goodbye, Rabbit!: (Rabbits enjoy learning about other culture) . Recommend a book that is set in a different country than your pickee is from.
5. Welcome, Dragon!: (Dragons are powerful and HOT :P) Pick a book with a HOT cover or an all-round yummy hot book.
6. Poor Cat: (Cat was left out of the zodiac because of rat's trick) Recommend a book from their TBR that has been neglected or a book that you think should be pushed up.
7. Pass the Luck Around: Recommend a book (or two) you loved that was recommended to you (either by your friend or from the previous PIFM).

Celebrate The New Year (Buddy Reads)

8. Spread The Love: Share the new books/series you are psyched to read in the New Year that your pickee hasn't read yet.
9. Lantern Festival: (Matchmakings happen today) Pick the books from your pickee's TBR that caught your eye.

Note: The buddy read recommendations are NOT optional. If you cannot do the buddy read, you must still recommend a book for each category; just let the person for whom you are picking know that you won't be able to do the read with them.
