What did you think? I've just read all three recently.

I've only read the first one so far, but I was actually surprised I liked it so much. It's literally been on my book self since it first came out. I think I was scared I wouldn't like it so never picked it up. But when I heard about the movie I decided it was time I read it.
I think one of the main reasons I didn't want to read it was cause it was labeled as a science-fiction novel and I haven't had much luck with those so far. But I think that was very minor in this book. I liked the actions, and not knowing exactly what was coming next. I'm really looking forward to reading the next two novels in the series.
And the thing that everyone seems to be making a big deal about is Gale and Peeta. I think it's still a little early for me to know exactly how I fell about the two of them. We really haven't seen much of Gale at this point so I can't judge his character much yet. And I'm not a fan of making it the love triangles in the books the biggest thing. At this point I'm almost indifferent to it, but I have to say I have a soft spot for Peeta as a character. I liked him right from the start.
How did you like the book?

I have to agree with you about the love triange, they pain me when I read them, but after reading all three it does allow you to make a firm decision on who you like best. I found my soft spot also happened to be Peeta, I think his character was believable and heartfelt which made it enjoyable. I liked the revalations he brought about and how Katniss developed as a character because of him.
I have to say after reading all three books I'd be surprised if you didn't have a firm judgement on the love triange situation.
My view was a little wary because my friend had said it was 'predictable' and oddly I felt rather surprised reading it because it was really intense and not entirely predictable. I found the science-fiction took a rather large backseat and that the horror and mechanics of the society and the Hunger Games itself rose to the forefront which I appreciated because it made it different.
I liked Katniss as a rather fiesty heroine with morals she seemed to stick to.
I really enjoyed reading the book personally and found it fast-paced enough once I got past the first part which I found a little dry in places. Cinna also happened to be my second favourite character to Peeta.

I do like Cinna a lot too. I'm hoping that we get to see more of him. There is just something about his character that draws me in and I can't quite pin point it yet.
And I agree, the backstory to the book and the Hunger Games themselves has a very powerful message. I've heard a lot of people say that the books are horrible because of the violence and the story. But I feel it really makes you think and appreciate what you have. There are definitely strong morals in this story, and I think that's what makes them so good. I didn't see the violence as something sick so much as a way to show how corrupt and unjust a society can be. Compared to other science-fiction novels I've read this one I find much easier to relate to. Ones like Brave New World were a little to far out there and odd for me. But this one had more of a modern feel to it I guess. And i think the characters really helped to develop that.

Yes. We see much more of Cinna!
I appreciated the violence because of its necessity to portray the horror of the society they lived in and the unjust. I agree with you. I could relate to it a lot! I haven't read a lot of science-fiction, but this one seemed to take a more 'normal' level that could be seen as plausible in a far off future.

Yes, I think that's how I see it too "normal". It wasn't something unbelievable to me. And there is violence and corruption in the world now that is just as bad, so I think that's why it's believable.
Just started Kiss of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's the fourth one in the Dark Hunters series. To be honest, I'm more excited about the next one in the series, but this looks to be promising.
This has been so dead lately!! I'm bringing it back to life. =)I started
today, and I like it so far. I'm on page 120-something. It's intriguing enough, but I'm not in love with it. I really hope it's not going to be predictable like I think it's going to be!
This has been a little dead. I will try to start updating here as well.Right now I am currently reading
&
which I will finish one if not both by Monday. And then I was going to start
(the MBOM) and
.
I'm reading five at the minute!! I work in a library, and keep bringing books home. I've started all of them and just pick up which one I fancy at the time. They are:-
by Veronica RothWasn't expecting it to start off so slowly- especially considering how Divergent left off. A little disappointed with a few things. Like there's a little to much focus on the romance aspect. But, it's not horrible. I'm just about to start Chapter 7 and it seems like it's getting better- like stuff is going to finally start happening.
Just started
and I am soooo excited for it! I'm going to meet Veronica Roth in October at my school so I'm counting down the days. Also reading
and
by Wendy HigginsThis is one of those books that I've had to read the first page over and over. I read the first page, think, "Not interested". Then a few hours or the next day, I try it again, still not interested. But, once I get past the first page, it hooks me.
Just started Our Mutual Friend which is a great brick of a book and very heavy to carry around but good so far
by Stacey KadeThis is the last book of the trilogy. So far so good- in between the title and the cheesy cover, I wasn't interested in reading the first book in the trilogy. But people kept saying it was good- very cute. Which it is.
Will finish The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian sometime tonight and will finish Eve by sometime tomorrow.
Reading with my son
Trying to work on a series... which I am really bad at doing. I have so many unfinished series in my list.

I'm also reading this great book about China. It is so funny and sort of true. It is through the eyes of a foreigner so I understand so many of the things he shakes his head at. LOL!Lost on Planet China: The Strange and True Story of One Man's Attempt to Understand the World's Most Mystifying Nation, or How He Became Comfortable Eating Live Squid
by J. Maarten Troost
I just started to read Epic Fail. My Nook App on my iPhone is stuck on that book, maybe because it's the last one I bought and downloaded.Finished Fragile Eternity. Wicked Lovely #3
I don't think I've heard of Finding Sky. It isn't ringing a bell. But I've been out of the loop. Sounds interesting nonetheless.
I'm planning to start:
Boyfriend From Hell by E. Van Lowe
It's free at Amazon right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Boyfriend-From-...
I just have to get it all set up on my new iPhone- no that's not a good thing. Getting a new iPhone, even if I got it free is a major pain- not only did I lose all my contacts, I have to set up the Kindle app again. (That's how I read Kindle books) I let my husband use my phone and when he was at the bank some crackhead-looking guy stole my phone. They tracked it back using GPS to some "notorious" apartment complex- have to file a police report and everything so the police can get the bank's videotapes and records. Husbands!!!
Mad Scientist wrote: "Interesting. how is bumped? It never appealed to me but I think it is cheap at B&N right now."i honestly wouldnt know, only at page 13 right now. i'll let you know.
Started another Indie book from smashwords.
by Trina M. Lee I did finish a few short stories that goes along with this series by her and enjoyed them so I figured I would jump into the 600+ book. Also still reading
I just finished
which was much deeper and more thoughtful than I had expected. Now I am reading
which was not at all what I was expecting and after a slow start has hit a good patch.
