'With hope at last, Will Herondale'.
Which leads me to believe he is going to be thinking very happily & positively at some point in Clockwork Princess. & he's only going to be feeling like this if he's with Tessa, right?
So I think:
either Jem will be saved, turned into brother Zachariah or something, and Tessa will marry Will,
or maybe Will will finally get to be with Tessa and then die tragically (writing in his Tale of Two Cities before he dies)
or maybe Jem will die and give his blessing.
Thoughts?

so I think we'll get a sad ending.
I want and don't want clockwork princess.
but I still have an ounce of hope left that Tessa may end up with will

That's a great theory. I really hope that it's because Will marrys Tessa. I'm Team Will by the way, but I don't want Jem to die so I'm kinda half and half. However either way it's going to be a sad ending because Tessa will live forever and whoeveer she choses will die. Oh and you read City of Lost Souls? How was it?

Hey yeah! This is so true.
Throughout the book I kept noticing how everything just keeps pointing to the fact that Tessa's true love is William. :)
I do like Jem but if it comes down to who should get the girl, I would rather Jem die or find someone else than Will getting any kind of tragic end. I am Team Will through and through.
I hope Clare works out something in the end by making both Tessa and Will mortal or immortal.

1. if you have to tell yourself OVER and OVER again that you love Jem, YOU DONT!
2. You may love Jem, but you’re not IN love with him, see the difference? (E.g. Simon and Clary. look how that went)
3. Jem will die whether you marry him or not (unless he does the right thing and becomes a silent brother) Herondales, on the other hand, have the tendency to become easily depressed and suicidal.
4. WILL IS SEXY

Can't agree more! :D
And Will is omg... yummm :P
If Tessa doesn't want him, I will!!!! I am head over heels in love with a fictional character *sigh*

Cassandra Clare said that Tessa does love Jem, but she has confusing feelings for Will. As for time traveling, she said there wouldn't be any :(
So I'm guessing she's either eternal or a ghost maybe?
Everyone is debating on who brother Zachariah is. There's been so many theories...the other day someone said it could be Henry! Because he's good with the machinery and knows the Herondales in the past. The "two people he could of died for" could have been Charlotte and their baby. Maybe Charlotte left him and changed her name back to Fairchild, thus Clary's red hair. This is too confusing!
Is it Jem? Is it Will? Cassandra Clare also said there were some misguiding hints, so it could be neither!
Oh and by the way, NO your not the only one on Team Jem!!! I'm pretty sure it's split fifty fifty between Will and Jem in the fandom.
I love Will but I want Tessa to end up with Jem.I guess we'll all just have to wait and see...

However, the fact that Tessa maybe immortal is an issue for whomever she ends up with. But I have also weighed this possibility. Remember how all the Herondales have a star shaped scar in the Mortal Instruments Series? Well the story behind it is that one of the Herondale ancestors met an angel and the angle touched them. They also say that the ancestor who encountered the angel was a guy. I think that Will is the Herondale that meets the Angel. Perhaps he does something that the Angel feels requires a reward or something like that. Maybe he asks the angel for immortality so that he can forever be with Tessa? Because this conclusion really does link everything that happens in the Mortal Instruments to the Infernal Devices Series. If that does happen I will cry because that is really an adorable thought. Well I'll happy cry no matter which way Will and Tessa end up together.
Anyone think this scenario might be possible??? Or is it simply too far fetched? Well I am a total Team Will, so I holding to this notion in a hope they will end up together!!!

I really, really hope that's Tessa and Jem. :3 (or it could be Gideon and Sophie, or Charlotte and Henry, or god forbid Tessa and Will, which it better not be. It better be Jem and Tessa.) Though... if Magnus has a pillow on his face, doesn't that mean he's in a bed? And that means lovebirds have come to visit him.... interesting. ... Still better be Jem and Tessa. XD

I love your idea though I do think it sounds a bit farfetched! But we may never know what goes on in Cassandra's mind so we'll have to see.
Secondly, I read an interview of Cassandra where she said when she is writing a story, she always knows who ends up with who. So my guess is that Will and Tessa are definitely going to end up together. I am guessing that she made the love triangle a little bit more complicated by making Tessa love Jem too so that it wouldn't be similar to TMI. In TMI, Clary's feelings for Simon were never real and come on- we all know Jace and Clary were meant to be together right from the start. And Simon never had the chance. So I think to make it a little different to TMI she gave Jem the chance which Simon never had. But I asked Cassandra on Tumblr whether she had a weakness for bad boys, and she said she did. So I am saying that Will getting the girl in the end is a safe bet.
I am saying this with respect to the way the story has been written. It's not just about a love triangle, it is about one true love- which I think is Will for Tessa. She loves Jem but just not in the same way.
Tessa's feelings regarding Will are not just confusion. Mostly she is afraid. It's because when she was at her vulnerable self and went to express her feelings for Will (in the attic or the rooftop), all he did was push her away. His rejection on the rooftop destroyed her. She obviously doesn't feel confident about trusting him again. Plus, when he told her the truth about the curse it must have been too much information for her to process and accept it altogether. Anybody would need time to get used to such an idea. But we can see HOW much it affected her. She burnt her hand. I don't see Tessa doing that to herself over something Jem would do or say. Will touches her very core. Her heart and mind both belong to him. There was a part of her that wanted to break off the engagement to Jem- and maybe she would have if it were the modern era. Back in those days, morals were very important. Plus, nothing would be as cruel and selfish as hurting a dying person that badly.
But if you ask me, Tessa is sort of betraying Jem. She still thinks about Will the way she is not supposed to. So how could she stay happy in a marriage like that where she would love her husband but not love him enough. Not to mention that she would be pining for someone else secretly which is so wrong on many levels. Unless Cassandra makes Tessa's feelings for Will disappear suddenly, I cannot see her being happy with Jem. So wouldn't it be better if their engagement came to an end? Also, I know Jem's character is noble enough that he wouldn't keep Tessa and Will from getting true happiness. I can see him letting her go even if his heart breaks. This is the worst part of the triangle. If Jem lost Tessa, he would probably die of heartbreak. But wouldn't it be equally bad that Tessa won't belong to him entirely in spite of being with him?! He can have her for himself physically but what about the heart, mind and soul?
It sucks! :(

Never have I seen a better description of the moment when you are overwhelmed by how much you love someone. The love triangle also mirrors the one in Tale of Two Cities (thus all the ToTC references), so in Clockwork Princess I think that Tessa and Jem will get married while everyone continues to look for a cure, they won't find one, but Will will find a rune only parabatai can use that will transfer Jem's illness to him. So as Jem lies dying, Will does the rune and then Will dies but only long enough to see the angel that touches him on the shoulder and brings him back to life. And the rest I haven't quite figured out. A part of me feels like all the clues are just red herrings.

Jem Can't die-The spin-off series she is writing, the main girl is Emma Cairstairs-he is the last in his family.

Tessa might be pregnant when he dies.

I haven't heard the parabatai rune theory before! :D That's actually a pretty good one. After all, we haven't actually seems rune 'only parabatai can use' yet. I'm sure that Will would be willing to use it for Jem. I remember somewhere about Cassandra Clare (I'm pretty sure at least) wanting to write a true love triangle, because Will and Jem love each other as their own selves (because they're really close even for parabatai). And I agree that Tessa does truly love Jem. You don't say 'yes' to a proposal if you don't love that person an awful lot. They've kissed plenty of times in CP and Tessa enjoyed them and kissed him back. When Will kissed her after Jem's proposal, she pushed him away. That's because she loved Jem enough to know that it was wrong and she cared enough not to break his heart.

Wow that is a brilliant, well justified theory! And I sort of had an idea about Will somehow being able to transfer the illness to himself, but I never really thought about the runes! And if he does die, I really genuinely hope he comes back to life like you say. Just another great theory :)

I cried when Jem purposed to Tessa. And I BALLED when Tessa said Yes.
Will and Tessa are meant to be together. And they better end up together.
I love Jem, I do. He's so sweet. But Will! OMG! Seriously? Like, HUILGUL.
He's so SEXY! MMM.
In clockwork princess all hell will break loose!
But hopefully Tessa and Will will find their happiness.
And i do hope Jem lives..

Good point although it would be funny if the April Fools post was real and Tessa was actually Chairman Meow!

hmmmmm..... both jace for tmi and will for tid

Sorry, didn't mean to be so blunt

it would be so awkward and pretty at the same time! imagine jem telling tessa he's inlove with cecily and she would be like it's ok, i love will

1) first off Jem is in love with Tessa and wants to marry her more than anything. He doesn't believe he could love any other woman. Tessa's all he could think about so I don't think he has room for any other woman. He's also kind natured so I'm pretty an affair won't happen.
2) Cecily is Will's sister. If not Tessa's feelings, Will's feelings would be put into consideration. Jem wouldn't start a relationship especially when Will clearly isn't comfortable with her being there at all. And I'm pretty sure Will would NOT allow it. Not only is Jem engaged(he wouldn't support him cheating! and he'd want Tessa to be happy) but he also doesn't want Cecily involved with shadowhunters.
3) Even if Jem did have some feelings he'd probably not explore them for the sake of their marriage and Tessa's happiness. Oh goodness it'd be like Tessa and Will all over again.
4)Wait isn't Cecily like twelve?
I really don't understand this ship. But don't get me wrong if you're a Jem/Cecily shipper feel free to keep shipping them. After all, that's what the fandoms are for. :)

It could be about Tessa, or it could be about moving on from Tessa. He could be talking about hope about finding a cure for Jem. Or maybe finding out what Tessa is. Or maybe stopping Mortmain for good. Or even about fixing up his family situation now that Cecily is back. Or he could have written it already, right after he found out the truth about the curse but before he talked to Tessa. Oh god, what if he writes this in the future because everyone dies in some tragic way and he's the only one left living and now it's been years and he's seeing hope for the first time..

i don't know what to think about will and jem. i love them both! i thought i could figure it out with logic: jace herondale exists in the future so i just assumed it would be will and tessa (cuz seriously, i can't see Will falling in love with anyone else). but then, i read online that cassie clare is starting and new series in 2015 called the dark artifices, which features a shadowhunter girl living in modern LA whose name is emma CARSTAIRS!!!
and from there, logic failed me. a descendant from each, but i can't imagine either jem or will falling for anyone but tessa. so i fail to see how this will work out. but i guess we'll find out in a year.
as for cecily and gabriel, i completely agree with you. alec looks like will but doesn't share a last name. alec's middle name is gideon, but he doesn't look like either gideon or sophie. (but we can just assume he was names after his great-great-whatever uncle). and tessa said that even if she didn't know who cecily was, she would have been able to figure it out by her resemblance to will. so there you have it: if it was cecily and gabriel, cecily would pass on her looks and gabriel would pass on his name, eventually producing.... alexander gideon lightwood!! yea! also, i think clare would find gabriel and cecily hilarious since gabriel hates will. that would make that whole love story interesting.
also, as side note, cecily comes to the institute to be trained as a shadowhunter, and who does the shadowhunter training at the london institute? that's right - gabriel and gideon!! but now that gideon is busy training sophie (O_O), just leaves gabriel and cecily, and tessa i guess. but who knows? maybe will or jem will take it upon themselves to train tessa, like she mentioned before. either way, that leaves lots of time for cecily and gabriel. food for thought....
(wow, that took me a looong time to type, so you guys had better appreciate it :)

haha do appreciate it :) and I absolutely agree with your reasoning :)I'd love to see a Gabriel/Cecily relationship. maybe at first he'll only pretend to like her to annoy Will or try to get even with him for his sister.

In the mortal instruments, Magnus is dating Alec. So we know that he doesn't get together with Tessa.

she did mention Tessa in CoG, in the epilogue of CoG. Magnus was talking to her, and she looked familiar to Clary...

I have to first agree with this ^ theory. It sounds like the best way to make everything fall into place, as it started, from the beginning when we first met our heroes and knew that one was dying and the other the one Tessa loves.
In the second book she comes to love Jem. It is impossible not to love him. And so, the complication is (more than battling the clockwork army) which love to pick. Jem or Will?
I have to say that at first I was team Will because he is the main male lead to my understanding -the book started with him, and ended with him. Not Jem, not Mangus; Will. He is the first to open up Tessa's world, and so, he is more of a leading character than the other male characters. However, I (like Tessa) came to love Jem. He is the sweetest thing, and deserves to be loved if not for his beautiful personality, for the fact that he is dying and wishes nothing more.
At this point, after finishing the second book, I must admit Im back to team Will. I cannot help but feel sorry for him, and all he has been through and why he has done the things he has, and why he deserves to be loved more than anyone else.
I have been put in Tessa's shoes, and for the same reason I would love the ending to be something that I would think morally right based on Tessa's character.
If Cassandra ends the book with Tessa and Jem, its not a right ending for me. If it ends with Tessa and Will, its not right either... unless something like what Danielle said happens. Unless Jem dies, like it has been hinted throughout the entire series, and what would be more consistent with his story than him dying at the end. As cruel as it sounds, and as much as I love Jem, it is what has been said from the beginning.
What I would hate is to see Tessa be with either one of them at then end, just because she picked one. In this case, between the three, there will never be closure unless one consents to. And it will be utterly selfish of Tessa to stay with Jem (in order to not break his heart) when in fact she is thinking of Will, wanting to be with him. It's not fair to Jem, and it doesn't seem morally right on her character, as she is very wise even for her short age, even when she is naive in love.
I hope she either leaves them both, or something like Danielle said happens... and without a doubt (Cassandra is an extraordinary writer) will be written convincingly enough, for me to understand that it was meant that way.
