Yeah now that I think about it, the price was probably everything else. He has to leave his friends and family behind, which is a heavy enough price.

message 302: by Becky (new) - rated it 3 stars

Becky I really think that they were always ment to be friends. However, that did not stop me in the slightest from being incredibly angry they werent more.

message 303: by Weston Glory (new)

Weston Glory What was a real shame was how long it took Paolini to figure out that Arya and Eragon weren't ready for a relationship yet. To me, it's like marriage. Marriage doesn't just happen. It takes nurturing, openness, commitment, etc. All those things that in my opinion we definitely saw the beginnings of at the end of Inheritance. At least Paolini left the door open.

message 304: by Oliver (new)

Oliver I honestly feel that there should have been more of romance side to eragon and arya while I fully appreciate that arya is 100 and eragon is like 18 - 19 that in itself is irrelevant. From my understanding now they have shared each others true names in elvish terms there practically married! I think it would have bridged the difference between eragon the human and arya the elf embrace a human custom for eragon and speak each others names for the elvish custom!

Mia Yes! I am way disappointed. I feel like after Eragon's gone for a while, Arya will realize what a mistake she made. I personally think they should've kissed. Eragon+Arya all the way!

There is a possibly a chance Arya may go after eragon. He said he might make more books. Evels do live for a long time and so do riders.

Lauren Bradford Hey guys, sorry for just randomly appearing in this conversation -_- But, if anything, what would your reaction REALLY be if you found out there was, for certain, going to be a further book follow up containing these two characters, because, and I can relate with a lot of you, I was soo profoundly upset with the way the course the relationship took at the end, well, there was no contact!:)

you never know i dont know for sure he will make another.

Depressedbcsofending I just red the book and CP ruined my life with ending... Building up the relationship between Arya and Eragon for all this years... I grew up with the series, and i was sure that they will end up together eventually. I was so excited reading last pages, to just feel raped mentally, which left empty void in my chest. I still shed my tears of anger. OH GOD WHY!!!! BARZUL!

message 311: by Steve (new) - added it

Steve Shajimon I hate the ending. Period.

message 312: by Steve (new) - added it

Steve Shajimon Heres what I think should happen:
Eragon comes back after 100 years to attend the blood oath celebration.
Eragon and Arya have an emotional meeting
And then things click

I think that by having those two kiss, it's just doomed anyway ( like Romeo and Juliet :P) but not as melodramatic as that. I think that by saying their true names, it was.... I don't know how to say it in words.... but u get the gist. And yes I believe that he should make another book because when this finished, I couldn't believe it. I was so sad. So, I think a fifth book is in order. (even if eragon and saphira are not the main characters)

Romaine in Alagaesia, the most romantic thing they could ever do is tell to each other their true names. Most cheesy. At least Sapphira and Feirnen made up for what their owners lacked in romance. hihi.

I don't think you would, I mean kissing Arya would be a great thing. I don't understand why they didn't kissed, at least once...

message 330: by Tcai (new)

Tcai I think the ending was a load of ...
Worst ending ever. It was so sad i started crying.
I think CP should have made a better ending that actually sums up the whole thing or just made another book or a sequel.

Kim I guess the thing that the tree took from Eragon will always be a deep dark secret. I don't understand the reply from Eragon message 341 which states: She said "Go" so I did. What does that have to do with what the tree took from him? He had pain in his abdomen. Oh well, at this point I'm not caring anymore!

That wasn't the part I was writing about. I believe this was in a later book. I was referring to the first time Eragon went to the tree...she took something from him...she also told him to go but not until she exacted a price. She took something from his body.....at least that was the impression the book made.

Hannah i think it would have been so out of character for arya to kiss eragon, but i think the romance should have gone a little bit further!

But Murtagh and nasuada... really! they HAVE TO BE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE HAVE TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR THAT IS WHAT ANNOYED ME! YOU CANT JUST SEND OFF MURTAGH LIKE THAT! WHAT ABOUT POOR MASUADA!!!!!!!!!!!

message 338: by Hannah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Hannah *Sorry, nasuada! :p

Mackenzie I honestly was so disappointed that nothing really happened between Arya and Eragon at all as soon as I finished reading the book. Now, almost a year later after I had read the book I now accept that it would have ruined the connection that they had because Arya is so much older and has way more experience than Eragon will ever end up having. Thus, the age difference was a bitch, so thank you christopher paolini.

message 340: by Drew (new) - rated it 4 stars

Drew I was so disappointed. Eragon and Arya's relationship was very interesting and well-written through the whole series, and then . . . nothing.

Aida Fernandez woohoo glad to know im not late to the party!
well i bought this book when it came out and started reading it. The last book that is. I had been waiting for it excitedly. Well a quarter lf the way there i was tired of Rorans chapters so I skipped them. And then i got more tired of it. There were things that just took up.pages that didnt need to be there in my opinion. Well i just decided to skip to the ending and wow was i in shock. that was a bad ending to me. after that i just read a page every now and then and just today i finished the book. I have owned it for 2 years and 3 months. and just now finished with it. I just could read it. it bored me and the ending left me dissapointed. it was just i dont know not my style. the way Islanzadi died just like that. The way eragon killed galbatorix. i was expecting a huge fight with swords and dragon chasing. The way they just departed from each other _eragon and arya_ without a proper goodbye. that just left me really heattbroken =) i hope he writes soon and makes a story set right after eragon leaves explaining what he does and what arya does too. unlike the elves he doesnt have centuries to live and write so he better hurry up.

message 342: by Aida (new) - rated it 3 stars

Aida Fernandez Besides like I said some things were not how I expected them to be. Like how Islanzadi died and then thats it. How Orrin became a drunk. How Galbatorix was killed. And then how Arya became queen of ths elves. It was just too rushed. I Would have prefered there to be a 5th book what harm does it give Paolini i mean he gets paid to write. As long as he keeps up happy he shouldnt worry. Im not dissapointed they didnt kiss but at the fact that they didnt even hug or said goodbye. And why did eragon hear east? Why didnt he settle in Vroengard? He knew the name of names so he could have easily rid it of ancient spells and rebuilt it but nooo he had to go far. Maybe if they changed alagaesias name then he can return you know? He wouldnt be returning there but to a new place.

message 343: by Aida (new) - rated it 3 stars

Aida Fernandez In any case I found a website to read fanfictions based on Inheritance cycle.I found that it helped feed my need for more of their story. SOME of them are good others are out of character. However there are two that have my attention and if any of you would like to read them they are
"The Flip of a Coin" by UnrivaledMind which is my favorite if yall go there and review tell em "thetinker" sent you
And the other is "Flashes" by pirates-x-girls. Unrivaled updates more freqjently while pirates takes months but theyre both worth reading. Theyre on fanfiction.net or just google them. I read them until the new book comes out that is if there is a 5th book in plans.

Pokemon soooooooooooorrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyy!!!!
I forgot my password!
It's me, eragon Pokemon is great, by the way. WATCH IT

Emerald H A little disappointed. glad they're making a 5th book.

Indiabookstore I think that if he'd written a fifth book the plot would have been spaced out much better. However, I also think that he he could have spent less time dwelling on certain plots: I think Eldest is a good example of this. If he had clubbed the 2nd and 3rd book together, and had written another book to space out the very rushed ending, I think he would have had a better series.

Yes, the end of Eragon and Arya was very disappointing. We had invested like four books into it, and were left with very little.

message 349: by Michal (new)

Michal Kováč Eragon and Arya must definitelly meet again. Arya is a neww Rider, and tell me, who will teach her? Yes, she knows a lot, but not really what a Rider should know. Or did Eragon left her any eldunárí? I dont think so...
So I guess, this is not over, even if there should bo no other book. They will both live long time yet and will definitelly end up together.

And the ending of Inheritance - it was really sad bud great. Telling their true names, that is a really strong boundary, much bigger and more intimate than kissing or having sex or I dont know what. It is a symbol of total trust...but, till the last slphabet i hoped, that one of them change his mind and that they will stay together :)

(sorry for my english)

message 350: by Nathanael (new)

Nathanael Donna In my way of thinking I was mad at 1st by over time I understand way he wote that ending so hate if you want to a 5th book will come out no one knows when but I was happy with the ending. But the story of those two is not over. So untill the next book comes out I will enjoy what he has wrote so far.
