Thanks...you've got some interesting books too...and you've reminded me I've been wanting to read that Lance Armstrong memoir...I may just pinch it for my list too.

I have finished my second January read Five Bells by Gail Jones. Review here http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

message 109: by Bronwyn (new)

Bronwyn Rykiert | 315 comments I notice someone is reading out of order - at least that is what is marked on their list. Are we allowed to read out of order or is that part of the challenge to read the chosen books in the correct month?

message 110: by Maggie (last edited Jan 22, 2012 05:18PM) (new)

Maggie I am reading them out of order, that is correct. I had already posted here on 12th Jan that it is because the books became available at the library after a very long wait. Didnt think it would be a big deal to read one from Feb during Jan.

It is definitely part of the challenge to read the correct book in the correct month Bronwyn, but as Carmel says, if you have problems getting the book, the 'rules' are bendable:) The most important thing is to enjoy reading (again as Carmel says!)

Thanks for that, because most of my books come from the library and you don't always get to choose quite when they will turn up.

Yes, that's right! I often reserve them, and they are either too late for the challenge...or too early..LOL Just do your best with the qualifying times:)

I'm also reading out of order...I've just about finished my January reads and have some of my February one's ready to go on with, but I wanted a change of genre and just finished a fun fantasy that I had marked for March....I find the same as Brenda, the books I'm looking for are not always available at the library, so I juggle and just keep track of my list. I'm sure that's OK.

Don't apologise Melanie! I have it down to read for July, that's the reason I asked:)

message 122: by Melanie (new)

Melanie I thought it was going to be great as its such a cult classic but I didn't enjoy it as much as I expected.

Maybe I just don't do that period writing style as I don't read classics like Wutherin Heights or Pride and Prejudice either so maybe you will like it better than me.

Well, I picked it up from a second hand book sale for $1 so either way, I can't go wrong! But we will see...I remember seeing the movie back when it first came out, and I enjoyed that.

Blue Eyed Vixen | 35 comments Cargo by Jessica Au Floodtide by Judy Nunn Rocks In The Belly by Jon Bauer

MY CHALLENGE LIST FOR JANUARY
Cargo by Jessica Au read 24/1/2012
Floodtide by Judy Nunn read 18/1/2012
Rocks in the Belly by Jon Bauer read 8/1/2012

I will leave reviews for Cargo (fresh) and Floodtide (bitterly disappointed) shortly.

I don't always get a lot of free time so I've gone ahead and am reading through my February and March books as they become available.

that very disapointing to hear about FloodtideVix and it was a big book too. The only book I've read of Judy Nunn was Maralinga and that was a very good read. I see you've got it on your TBR list

Natasha | natashasnovels I just read Froi of the Exiles!! If only I had waited a little longer it could have been my February book!!
I have already read my January book before starting the challenge! My January book was So Much to Tell You by John Marsden.

Mish if you want my copy I can sent it to you. I picked it up for cheap at an op shop so it is a little ratty but still readable.

Sally (sallybell) Finally read my January book! Being abroad until March means that I'll have to cheat and save my 'F' until then, sadly :( But at least I know what it will be - I've had The Family at Misrule sitting on my shelf for years now!

1. In January, J is for John Marsden's The Dead of the Night

I persevered, and yes, it was a fair brick of a book in size! Mish, but I'm set in my feministic standards and the majority of the women being portrayed as week, manipulative opportunists, or unable to survive unless they were attached to a man! just grated on me. Also the given acceptance that the men who did well imported their mistresses from Malaysia to be "used" for 6 months then sent back and replaced with a new one so they could not "stake their claim" ..... oops. I'm starting to rant again....best hop off my soapbox now. :)

A friend of mine lives quite near Hanging Rock as well and we've been a few times. I think it's kind of a law that if you lose sight of someone at any stage, you have to call out MIRAAAAAAAANDA? really loudly ;)

January - So Much to Tell You by John Marsden
February - Does My Head Look Big In This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah
March - Chain Of Hearts by Maureen McCarthy

Also I am only doing amateur because I have so many other books I want to read! :D
