If There Be Thorns
question
To continue reading?

Should i continue reading this book? I'm not that into it , for the fact that it's Cathy's sons perspective.I'm 100 pages in and it doesn't seem good. What's the point of writing a book series when she changed it to her sons after the first 2 books?I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD CONTINUE THE SERIES.

Narrative changes are very common. The series is set over quite a long time so the author changes perspective to keep the reader current. It is about how family dysfunction gets passed along. I recommend continuing.
You wrote,"What's the point of writing a book series when she changed it to her sons..." The author is not the narrator in this series. Often works are written and narrated from a first person perspective. This is rarely the voice of the author.

Dear Kassandra, First off I love your picture of the Raven, I have always liked them and been afraid of them. But back to the issuse at hand, to read or not to continue reading "IF THERE BE THORNS," it is a bit kind of a tough chew having to go from Jory, to Bart back and forth. However, something significant involving the boys, Corrine(Cathy's mom) John Amos, and Cathy. If you want to skimm ahead a couple of chapters it would'nt hurt. Like I said, it was a rather boring read, till I got to the part where the Corrine, and Cathy..... Well I'll let you get to that part if you decide to continue reading(B.T.W Corrine marries John Amos.)
I does get better. I'm not to sure if I would continue after this book. The furthest I have ever made it is 3 books in. But it does finish the story and it gets better near the end. And, as always, a little crazier every time.
Most definitely keep at it. Sometimes you have to read all the books in a V.C. Andrews series to understand how/why things happened. I love the change of perspective in V.C. Andrews books, there is always multiple sides to the story and this way readers can take account the different perspectives and make their own decisions about events/people/etc.
Wow! I really want to reread some of her work now. Well, the work of her family/team anyways.

It's the fourth in the series. If you've read this far I think you should finish for completion's sake, this and Seeds of Yesterday and you'll be done with the Dollanganger saga.

Actually, no the last int he series is A GARDEN OF SHADOWS. It is written with the grandmoters(Olivia) point of view. In a small sense I kind of felt

Oops, I meant it does, not I does. Sorry, I'm pregnant and my brain is fried from it, I think my phone spazzed out just a second ago and posted a comment before I finished. Lol
I have read her books ever since she started writing,I've even saved them all for my grandkids one day.since she passed away her family has done a great good in keeping up where she left off.You do have to read them all to keep up with the different changes in the book to understand them.I just saved the last three so I can read them all at in arow and not miss a thing.good readings to all
I've only read this series of hers because Flowers in the Attic really tapped a nerve with me in a good way. I thought the series was interesting and at times compelling, but it eventually turned into a saga more composed of shock value instead of a genuinely shocking premise from which it began.

Why skip a book in a series? You'll miss out on the whole experience of the Dollangangers. Its not the best one in that series, Petals on the Wind is, but the book isn't that awful and it does get better.
