What Are You Reading Right Now? ( Hwæt béon ðu bocrædung?)

Amgalant One: The Old Ideal

I have a feeling that Margaret was going down Simona's suggestion of "it can't be like this until the end"
It appears as though it was. Poor Margaret. :(

Hope you like it Margaret, I gave it four stars. I'm going to do a fuller review when I get back from holiday at the weekend.

I feel that as I am doing the challenge this year, it would slew the results for me not to finish a book. This is a new experience for me...finishing appalling, crap books.
My reading motto has always been "Life's too short to read crap books".

I was. It was the first one "it can't be like this until the end". Unfortunately, it was. :(

I'm looking forward to starting it during my morning tea break. :)

I'm trying to change that, and felt the challenge would be a good way to do it.

It is kind of like 'now' I need to collect the Challenges in sequence and not miss a year...:/ like collecting books in a series.

If you open up your Start menu on your PC and select "my computer" a window should pop up and all these thing should be on the left hand side of that window. First plug in your Android so that it will also appear on the list. I hope that helps.
Any books not .epub might copy but may not work, you'll have to get a conversion programme for that next. But give this a try for now and let us know if it works.

I can be a bit of a statistics freak at times. I'm keen to see how many books I will manage and have a record of exactly what new books I read during the year.

Yay! Stryker is cool. :-)

Also Betty, have you got the kobo app on your droid?
I have Kindle and Kobo on my droid plus the one it came loaded with.
If you need to convert files from mobi (kindle) to go with any other form of ebook reader, or in turn, to go from other formats to the mobi kindle format, there is the program calibre. Many people use that program.

The Saxon series is my favourite BC. Love it.
Of the Arthur series, I think that one you are on, Excalibur was my least fabourite of that trilogy. I quite enjoyed the first two though.
Welcome to the group, Len. :-)

So how did you liked Cold Days?"
Waiting for my library to reopen so I can get it.

Really enjoying it ... great style of writing!"
I loved that book. Great writing.

Hi Paul,
That book sure has done well for itself.

I found it a great read as well!

If you can run down any of the medieval novels (such as "The Paladin" or "Knight in Anarchy") by George Shipway you will be in for a treat. He was a superb writer and his novels set in British India, reflecting his service in a British Indian Cavalry regiment, were also excellent. Whether Medieval or Indian his work was founded on deep research on detail and knowledge of the era. I didn't read a single one of his books that I didn't enjoy.

I read this back in the seventies and liked it, but I don't remember it well enough to rate it.

I agree, and I read them all but I started to like them a bit less from "Fever Dream" (today GR doesn't want to put in the link!!!!). They started a lot of very confused and confusing threads, and the love story with Helen is really too much drama for me. IMHO.

I LOVE P&C. Their books are terrific and they have written some good one's singly as well. I have their latest on hold at the library.

It's fantasy.

Yes, and I like that total-immersion idea. If ever I'm in the mood, my stack comes up to my knee.

Hope your Paperwhite works for you, otherwise it will be an awfully expensive "paper weight"."
Thanks for the good thoughts Monica - It works perfectly. I installed the saddle-tan cover, loaded it up, gave it to the wife, she loved it, then our 12 year old daughter prompty tried to claim it. Not happening. Can't wait to start using it myself. I'm such a sucker for stuff like this. No sign of any Kindle Kops coming after me ... yet
