message 406: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Young (matthewgyoung) Hey everyone,

I am glad I found this group! I've been looking for a writing group for a while, but there are none near me locally without having to drive forever.

I've published two books on finance in the traditional manner and I've had a few ebooks self published, too. I am currently making the jump to writing fiction. I've published one short horror story in an ezine, but I am still working on the first novel. It's a suspense novel and I'm about 1/3 of the way done with it.

I'm hoping to find other writers here interested in sharing ideas and supporting each other.

Glad to have you, Matthew. It's always nice meeting an author. Also glad to hear about your leap into the genre of fiction. It is, after all, the greatest genre for letting your mind run free.

Hey, Matthew!! I'm well glad you found this group, because every writer in the world needs someplace to share thoughts and help others when they should, and get help back in return! Like the saying goes, "more heads are better than one. Just try not to lope off the smallest."

Or so I just made up then...

Anyway, name's Phoebe (prob's already know that, though,) and I hope we can all be of some or big help to you while your inner writer breaks loose. :)

Anthea Carson (antheajane) | 1 comments Merry Christmas everyone,
I'm Anthea, I've self published a few books on Amazon Kindle. I'm definitely looking for help and feedback with my writing. Even though it is already published, I still do some editing to improve it, and the I upload the improvements. (That's what I love about Amazon.)

I can also read other people's writing and give feedback.

Here is one of my books. If anyone is interested in reading and giving constructive feedback, PM me for a copy. Call me Jane

Bibliomanic Marley | 1 comments Yes, I'd like to get better aquianted with the members here. I'm Marlina, most commonly known to my friends as Marley. I am accusomed to reading a different series of genres of books. I read one at a time though, bless those who have the ability to multitask and comprehend many books at once. Unfortuately I have not aquired this ability, but I digress. Usually, when I have come accross a book that I feel should be known, I will come to a point were I feel compelled to make a review about it. I am 19 years old, and I am a reader from New York baby <3

'Ello, mate!!! Merry extra late Christmas to you, too! It's great to know that you are rather experienced in the likes of publishing, but I assume more than a few people here have done that. :) Just post anything in any topic. Everything is open to discuss. If you want to create multiple topics (threads) on your writing/stories/books, or just voiced opinions/questions on things you've dubbed important to share, I could give you a folder to put your stuff in. Just a thought. ;)

Anyway, welcome to the group and I hope your holidays are wonderful!

Of course you would share a bit about yourself here, Marley. You're one of our members, are you not? I like how you've grown with various genres and multiple authors. If you read the same type of gente too many times, you may end up predicting a book's storyline! Multitasking is rather confusing, yes. Granted, I myself have confused a book with another book slightly numerous times. Just ever so slightly. I was surprised to hear you were from New York. You're probably the first ever New Yorker that has admitted to being one. From New York, that is. ;)

Anyway, did I mention how delighted we all are about the prospect of more members? :P

Jasper ~Classy Jazz~ (darkchaoticwolf) My name is Chaotic, I am 15, and I have always loved to write since I was about eleven. I'm always trying to find new ways of improving, and always trying out new ideas, and stuff. My favorite genres are Supernatural or Fantasy, and Romance, as well as Action. I love doing things that are completely unreal, and just creating stories that I can call my own and sharing all the strange ideas I have with the world. Unfortunately, I have never actually finished a story before, except for one, and that was for my creative writing class, so I think that's one thing I really need to work on, as well as trying to make my stories actually seem like stories.

message 426: by Terri (new)

Terri Venuti | 1 comments Hello everyone, I love to read, love to write, and love to sew (as long as it comes out the way I wanted it to!) If I could read and sew at the same time my life would be complete! Oh well, at least sewing gets me up out of my recliner when my butt gets numb!
I wrote a LOT (mostly journal) when I was young. It was my therapy for our very disfunctional family. Now that I have raised my own very fun disfunctional family of two very tattood daughers and one adorable 9 year old boy crazy granddaughter, I have time to get back to writing.
I have very vivid dreams and exciting tales of my childhood and my friends always tell me I should write books. So, here I am, exploring that option at this very cool place in my life. Yes I'm 53, but I feel 30. I coach cheerleading, love hanging out with my 20 something daughters, jog every day, and work full time.
I am excited to meet you all and can't wait to start interacting with you and absorbing as much fun and knowledge as you will share with me!
Terri

message 433: by Shanti (new)

Shanti | 2 comments I'm Shanti. Like so many others, I've been reading avidly forever, almost all genres, and have been writing as a private/personal hobby for the last ten years. I have joined this group in the hopes of learning information as to how to go about writing 'for real'.

I have once been badly plagiarized in a group that was supposed to be about 'helping new writers', so I am very hesitant and wary to post anything of my original writings anywhere. I am anxious to learn how to protect myself and my 'intellectual property' while I'm in this process. I know I will want and need lay-editors long before I get to a "real" editor, but how do you find honest and trustworthy people?

Anyway, I am grateful to have found the Goodreads website in general and these helpful communities within.
